The village of Fort Edward is now in the process of dissolving the police department. According to the Post Star, the resolution was discussed at a public hearing on Monday night, and village residents have the next 30 days to petition the board’s decision, and establish a public vote. If they don’t, the police department will break up by early March and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office will provide coverage for 20 hours a day.
