Altamont Fair presents Harvest and Wine Festival

The Altamont Fair presents the all-new Harvest and Wine Festival at the Altamont Fairgrounds September 21 and 22. A variety of wines, spirits, and ciders will be available for tasting along with a commemorative tasting glass available. There will also be live music, kid’s activities and a craft show with local vendors. Admission is $10 for people 16 years and older.15 years old and under get in for free with a paid adult.

Queensbury man arrested for stealing from Walmart for second time

Police have arrested a Queensbury man for allegedly stealing from Walmart after he had been banned for similar incidents. Daniel O. Rawson, 51, allegedly stole from the store in Wilton on Aug. 2, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.Rawson was charged with burglary and petit larceny. He was arraigned in Wilton Town Court and sent to Saratoga County Jail.

Glens Falls police investigating three overdoses this week

Glens Falls Police are investigating three suspected overdoses during the last few days. The ODs happened from September 6 to September 8. At each scene, officers found red-colored glassine envelopes that they believe are related to the medical calls. All of the patients survived. Police are warning about the possibility of a substance laced with a potent opioid. Anyone who needs assistance should call Glens Falls Police at 911.

Jazz at the Lake festival takes place this weekend

The Lake George Arts project is celebrating 40 years of Jazz at the Lake music festival. For the third year, “Jazz at the Lake” will expand beyond the bounds of Shepard Park into the community and on to the lake itself. Kensington Elementary student wanders into pond from the playground

The Glens Falls City School District is reviewing its safety protocols after a student wandered off the playground and waded into Crandall Pond near Kensington Elementary School this week. Staff realized that the child was missing and began a search. A community member found the child within minutes. The district said that plans are underway to extend the fencing across the wooded section of the playground.

Bethlehem School District is working on remote from home schooling

Bethlehem Central School District is preparing to provide an option for virtual schooling in the wake of five threats of violence. Superintendent Jody Monroe said the classrooms are not currently configured for remote learning, so that option was not available this week. Monroe commended the staff saying. Our teachers and administrators have gone above and beyond to maintain a sense of safety and normalcy in the classroom.

Granville man dies in fire

A 75-year-old man is dead after a fire Monday in Granville. According to State Police they responded to a home on County Route 21 at around 8:15 p.m and found the home engulfed in flames. The owner, Gene W. Bassett, was found dead in the residence after firefighters put out the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation, A Go Fund Me page has been created to help defray the costs of Bassetts memorialization services.

Hudson Falls woman arrested on drug charges

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a Hudson Falls woman following a drug investigation. Tracy Whipple, 43, was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a class-B felony. She is accused of selling meth to members of the Warren County Sheriff’s Office’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit earlier this year. She was arrested on August 27 on an active indictment warrant.

40 year celebration of Jazz at the Lake

The Lake George Arts project is celebrating 40 years of Jazz at the Lake music festival. The free, three-day festival runs from September 13 to 15. Performances take place at Shepard Park and various locations throughout Lake George.
