A state trooper was suspended for letting a colleague who was not trained in underwater diving use his gear. That trooper, James Monda, drowned in the Great Sacandaga Lake one year ago. According to the Post Star, the 45 year old Monda went into the water and did not resurface. Another trooper who was assigned with him located him in the bottom of the lake in about 9 feet of water and pulled him to the surface.
