State Police arrested Heather E. Charon, 41, of Warrensburg for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated. Troopers responded to the area of State Route 9 in Warrensburg, NY, for the report of a three-car crash with injuries. The investigation determined Charon was operating a vehicle northbound when she struck a parked vehicle pushing it into another parked vehicle. The vehicle initially struck was occupied by a child who sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Charon’s blood alcohol content was reportedly a .32.
DEC Issues Air Quality Advisory
As ravaging Canadian wildfires continue, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an air quality alert for the Adirondacks through Tuesday night. Sun Community News reports the alert was issued for areas across the state Monday, June 5, and later extended and expanded through 11:59 p.m. Tuesday. The extension applied to the Adirondacks, Long Island, NYC Metro, Lower and Upper Hudson Valley, Central Regions and Eastern Lake Ontario.
Warren County To Hold Meeting On Composting
Warren County will hold a meeting on Tuesday, June 6 to update the public and receive public comment on the county’s proposed organic waste management plan. These organics include food waste and yard waste, and the meeting will include discussion of information from a public survey earlier this year. Among the options under consideration is a county-operated composting facility.
Motorcyclist Dies In Collision With Deer Sunday Morning
A motorcyclist has died in Hebron, after a crash Sunday morning involving a deer. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single motorcycle crash on State Route 22 just south of Tiplady Road, at about 7:25 a.m.
Arriving units found a single motorcycle off the road into the guiderail. The preliminary investigation shows the operator was traveling south on State Route 22 when a deer entered the lane of travel.
Americade Wraps Up In Lake George
One of the biggest summertime events in the Capital Region wrapped up in Lake George Sunday. This was the 40th edition of
Americade in and around the village, and while official numbers aren’t out yet, more than 50,000 motorcyclists and motorcycle enthusiasts were expected to roll into the area for the rally.
Bolton Woman Accused Of Wrongly Receiving SNAP Benefits
A Bolton woman was arrested, accused of fraudulently receiving SNAP benefits. WRGB reports 33-year-old Eve Deima failed to report the income of an individual on a recertification form. She was allowed to receive $2505 in benefits, according to investigators. She was charged with grand larceny, welfare fraud and offering a false instrument for filing.
Drug Arrest In Glens Falls
Investigators say they found a large amount of drugs in Glens Falls. According to WNYT, 25 year old Maria Dulisse was stopped on Oakland Avenue. She was in possession of a significant amount of methamphetamine and cocaine, investigators said. Other drugs were found, said investigators, and will be sent to the state police forensic lab for further testing.
Deal Would Eventually Seal Criminal Convictions In Some Cases
Gov. Kathy Hochul and state legislative leaders all agree: They’re nearing a deal on a landmark bill that would automatically seal criminal convictions in an effort to help people find work after they’ve paid their debt to society.
The measure — which is supported by a broad swath of criminal-justice reform advocates, labor unions and business organizations — would seal most misdemeanor and felony records after a person has completed their incarceration and following a multiyear waiting period, making them unavailable to prospective employers and the general public, in most cases.
Sidewalk Construction Project Considered In Warrensburg
Pedestrians walking beside River Street in Warrensburg will likely have a more enjoyable experience if a sidewalk construction project goes ahead as planned. Sun Community News reports the Warrensburg town board, at their May meeting, committed $900,000 in federal and state funding for the reconstruction of sidewalks on the western side of River Street from the Judd Bridge to English Brook, a stretch that is about 1.25 miles in length.
Troy Man Faces Weapons Charges In Lake George
A 41-year-old Troy man was arrested late Tuesday evening after he was allegedly found to be in possession of a loaded handgun following a traffic stop. Warren County Sheriff’s Office deputies pulled over a 2012 Nissan on Route 9N in Lake George for a series of traffic offenses. Police say they found a loaded 40-caliber handgun in the possession of a passenger, John C. Becker Jr. Becker is a twice-convicted felon and as such, is prohibited from owning firearms.
