Motorists should be prepared for construction-related delays on Quaker Road, also known as Warren County routes 47 and 70, beginning on Monday, June 19th.
Drivers should be prepared for lane closures and delays through the summer as a result of the project, and alternative routes should be sought as construction occurs. Contractors retained by Warren County Department of Public Works will be working on the entire 3.96-mile section of the highway in Queensbury in stages. The project will have both daytime and night construction components.
Johnsburg Emergency Squad’s Lifeline
An “emergency lifeline” for the Johnsburg Emergency Squad arrived earlier this year in the form of funding that helped the squad purchase a new, $73,000 ambulance. The Sun Community News reports more than half of the price tag for the emergency vehicle came from a Warren County Board of Supervisors allocation from the county’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding; one of 14 first responder agencies from around Warren County that received portions of Warren County’s $12.4 million in ARPA funds.
Stefanik Looks To Extend NBRC
Last week, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, along with Congresswoman Annie Kuster (D-NH) and a bipartisan group of their colleagues, introduced a bill to extend the Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC) for 10 years while making critical reforms to encourage economic development, enhance access to rural healthcare, and streamline bureaucratic processes within the NBRC. This legislation will strengthen both federal and state efforts to spur job creation and economic development across Upstate New York and the North Country.
Gillibrand Pushes Measure To Reduce Farmer Suicides
Suicide rates for farmers is three and a half times higher than it is for the general population. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand is pushing for legislation to change that. WNYT reports Gillibrand outlined a plan called the “National Agricultural Crisis Hotline Act.”
It would establish a 24/7 national crisis hotline to provide real-time live assistance catered to the unique needs of farmers, ranchers and their families.

Hartford Man Arrested In Dispute
A Washington County man was hit with more charges on Sunday after police said he shot a gun during a domestic dispute on Friday, which resulted in an arrest as well. The Post Star reports State Police originally arrested James A. Lutz, 26, and charged him with criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Swatting Incident In Glens Falls
Over the weekend, Glens Falls Police responded to a reported hostage situation that was ultimately found to be a swatting incident. The incident included an alleged shooting and bomb threat at the apartments at 19 Elm St. A caller told police that explosives had been set up at the property, and would be detonated remotely if police arrived on the scene. The caller also claimed that officers would be shot upon arrival.
Work Happening At Warren County Airport
What’s going on at Warren County Airport? You may have noticed construction vehicles and workers have started on a new project neat the main airport entrance on Queensbury Avenue. Two new aircraft hangars are being built by Rich Air, fixed base operator at the airport, to accommodate needs at the airfield. Plans call for the projects to wrap up by late fall.
Unattended Fire At Floating Battery Island
On June 12 at approximately 11 a.m., a DEC docking crew noticed a fire on Floating Battery Island in Lake George. Forest Rangers and a local fire department responded and quickly contained the fire. No structures or campers were threatened. The cause of the fire was a campfire that had not been properly extinguished. Campers are reminded to use a lot of water and make sure a fire is cold to the touch before leaving it unattended.
Warren County Man Facing Sex Abuse Charges
A Warren County man is facing several charges including sex abuse and distributing indecent material to minors. 19 year old
Leon Carney of Warrensburg, had sexual contact with a girl under the age of 13 at a house in Victory Mills, reports WNYT.
Carney sent indecent material through a social networking app to the same girl. Carney was arraigned and sent to the Saratoga County Jail.
