Lake George Man Charged In Bike, Vehicle Accident
A bicyclist is recovering from injuries after being involved in a hit-and-run accident Aug. 4 that has since left a Lake George man facing charges. Thee accident happened at the intersection of Route 9 and Bloody Pond Road when the bicyclist was struck by a dark grey Jeep Wrangler that took off. Witnesses were able to obtain the vehicle’s registration that ultimately led to the apprehension of the operator, identified as Delbert Rodrigo Machicao, 50, of Lake George.
Lake Luzerne Woman Arrested For Assault, Leaving The Scene Of An Accident
State Police arrested Thon M. Baker, 58, of Lake Luzerne for Assault, Leaving the scene of an Incident Without Reporting, and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. Late last month, Troopers responded to the area of Stewart Bridge Road in Hadley, NY, for the report of a severely injured individual. The victim was transported to Albany Medical Center for treatment. The investigation determined Baker was in a verbal argument with the victim in the early morning hours. During the altercation, she struck and ran over the victim, then left the scene without contacting emergency services. The victim is expected to survive.

DEC announces that hunting and trapping licenses are now on sale, as are deer management permits for this season.
You can buy permits and licenses online, at a DEC agent or by phone. Hunting and trapping licenses will be valid from September 1, 2023, to August 31, 2024.
Former Warren County Sheriff Mounting Write-In Campaign
Former Warren County Sheriff Bud York wants his old job back. He’s mounting a write-in campaign to challenge incumbent sheriff Jim LaFarr, reports WNYT. York served three terms as Warren County sheriff following 30 years with the New York State Police. He decided not to run again after his third term, and has been serving as acting police chief in the city of Plattsburgh for the past year and a half.
Former Great Meadows Prison Guard Says He Was Racially Harrassed, Beaten
A Black former prison officer with the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision is suing his former co-workers and high-ranking members of the state agency, alleging that he was subjected to racial harassment and a brutal beating at the Great Meadow Correctional facility in Washington County.
Vitolio Jeune alleges in the lawsuit that he was subjected to systemic discriminatory behavior from colleagues from February 2022 until October.

Lake George RV Park has come in at the #1 spot on “Top 9 for K-9s.” WTEN reports the website, The Dyrt , t uses AI and user-submitted content to analyze campgrounds popular with pups. The ranking is based on the quality of amenities for dogs, as well as other information gathered from photos and online reviews.
Unauthorized Drone Flight Over Glens Falls Hospital
Glens Falls Hospital said that “on the evening of Monday, July 31 there was an unauthorized drone flight over Glens Falls Hospital…at the same time that a Life Flight emergency transport helicopter was landing.” Glens Falls Chronicle reports hospital officials say the airspace around the hospital is private property and permission is required in order to operate a drone over the hospital.
New Ownership, Menu For Former Howard Johnson’s In Lake George
The final standing Howard Johnson’s restaurant located in Lake George will be taking on an international flair now that it has been sold. The place closed in March of last year, and according to the Times Union, it will become an all-you-can-eat sushi and hibachi restaurant. It will be the second location for Sushi Wa. Sushi Wa opened in December 2021 in Fort Edward.
Ice Castles Has New Vision For Lake George
The Ice Castles is set to return to the Village of Lake George again this winter, but with a few changes. WRGB reports the company came before the Warren County Occupancy Tax Committee seeking $150,000 to reimagine the attraction, as an ice-skating rink complete with hand-crafted ice sculptures on the perimeters, as a way to bypass the warm weather issues the operation ran into last winter.
