Punches Thrown, Cops Called To Lake Luzerne Library Meeting

A night at the library turned violent in Lake Luzerne Tuesday. Punches thrown and cops were called at Rockwell Falls Public Library after a contentious meeting, with two community members at odds over the handling of the library. WRGB reports many residents are up in arms that the library has been closed for nearly two months now after two thirds of its staff resigned including its Director, who cited harassment and a hostile work environment.

Bridge Near Northway Exit 24 Back In Play

DOT announced that the Bolton Landing-Riverbank Road bridge over the Northway is back in action.
Located near Northway Exit 24, the bridge became the subject of a $4.1 million replacement project, with its predecessor dating back to 1965 – and showing its age. The new bridge has wider shoulders and allows higher vertical clearance, than what came before, at 16 feet, 6 inches.

Bill To Prevent Veterans From Falling Victim To Scams

Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY) and Congressman Mike Bost (R-IL) recently introduced the Veterans Scam and Fraud Evasion (VSAFE) Act to prevent veterans from falling victim to fraudulent attacks that endanger them and their livelihoods. The Federal Trade Commission estimated that there were over 70,000 reports of fraud against veterans in 2022 alone.

Warren County Urging Waterfront Property Owners To Use Ice Control Equipment Properly

Warren County is asking those who own or maintain waterfront property in the county to make sure that any equipment they install to control ice is used properly.

Lake George Polar Plunge Raises Record Amount

An out-of-season crowd descended on Shepard Park Beach in Lake George Saturday as athletes, coaches, and supporters of Special Olympics New York showed their support for the organization. The Polar Plunge that followed into 40 degree waters raised a record $215 thousand dollars.

New Portal For Families In Need

Warren County Department of Social Services announced a new collaboration this week with Justice For Orphans and CarePortal to help local families in need. Arsonist Draws Ten Year Term In Washington County

The man who set fire to the Hudson Falls apartment building where he lives was sentenced on Friday to 10 years in prison. According to WNYT, Peter Lemery pleaded guilty in Washington County Court in September to an arson charge for setting the October 2022 fire on Maple Street. The fire displaced seven families out of their homes.

No Injuries In Glens Falls House Fire

Multiple fire departments responded to a house fire on Glen Street in Glens Falls around 10 a.m. Thursday. WTEN reports the fire broke out on the second floor of a two-family home. It was empty at the time except for two pets that were evacuated safely. Smoke damage was limited to the second floor, although there was some water damage on the first floor.

Arraignment Set Friday In Moreau Lake State Park Kidnapping Case

The man accused of kidnapping a 9-year-old girl from Moreau Lake State Park will be arraigned on the indictment on Friday.
Information about what the grand jury found will also be released. WNYT reports Craig Ross Jr. was initially charged with kidnapping after police found him and the girl he’s accused of abducting.
