GFSO Holiday Pops Concert A Record Setter

Glens Falls Symphony Orchestra set a record for attendance with its Holiday Pops Concert. According to WNYT, the 1,200-seat auditorium at Glens Falls High School was filled as the 58-piece orchestra performed holiday favorites, backed on some songs with high school choirs from Glens Falls, Queensbury and Hudson Falls. The event also served as a fundraiser for the Wait House, which benefits homeless and runaway youth in Warren and Washington counties.

LGSD Exploring Pre-K Program

The administration of Lake George School District is expecting to launch a Pre-K program as soon as next September, reports the superintendent. According to Sun Community News, h e told the board that he and other Lake George School District administrators had spent a day meeting with state Education Department officials and had learned about the five potential primary federal and state funding sources available for such an initiative.

Glens Falls Man Faces Drug Counts

A Glens Falls man faces narcotics charges, after an audit at a Queensbury store. The Warren County Sheriff’s Office assisted NYS Department of Taxation and Finance with an audit at the Smoke N Save on State Route 9 in Queensbury, and reportedly discovered numerous packages of Psilocybin mushrooms and multiple Psilocybin chocolate bars inside the store, and available for sale. 23 year old Austin Lee is facing charges.

Winter’s Dream has officially opened for the season in Lake George. It’s an immersive, multi-media experience located next to the Fort William Henry Hotel. Court Rules CCSD Needs To Do Away With Mascot, Nickname

The state’s second-highest court ruled unanimously on Thursday to affirm a lower court decision over the Cambridge Central School District and its mascot, the Indians. That means the decision to remove the school’s longtime nickname and mascot stands. WNYT reports the 5-0 ruling by the Appellate Division of State Supreme Court’s 3rd Department essentially ends the district’s legal battle to keep their mascot, a battle that has lasted for more than two years.

CDTA To Hold Public Meeting On Merger

CDTA plans to hold a public meeting on December 11, 2023, at the Crandall Public Library. The meeting, scheduled from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., will discuss CDTA’s operations and future changes.
The meeting will also cover the upcoming merger between CDTA and Greater Glens Falls Transit. This merger, planned for January 1, 2024, began earlier this year with the installation of CDTA bus stop signs on GGFT routes in Warren County.
