The restaurant chain is well-known nationwide for closing on Sundays, a practice that’s been in place since the first restaurant first opened in 1946.
State Of Emergency Due To Flooding In Warren County
Warren County is under a state of emergency due to flooding. Monday the area saw significant flooding and road damage and reports of rivers and creeks jumping their banks. Homeowners in northern Warren County reported flooding in their basements and several roads are closed. Crews were in the area throughout Monday night.
Man Arrested After Trying To Scam Washington County Resident Out Of $75K
A 38-year-old man is accused trying to steal about $75,000 from a Washington County resident through a phone scam.
WNYT reports the victim told State Police that they had been contacted by an unknown individual through an electronic device. The caller said that the person’s identity had been stolen. The scammer told the victim to turn over about $75,000 to a person who would pick up the funds from their Jackson home. Wen G. Chen, of Hempstead, was arrested last week after he arrived to collect the money.
Dog Reported Stolen From Aviation Mall Found Safe
A dog that had been reported stolen from the Pet Zone within Aviation Mall in Queensbury has been found safe and in good health. The Warren County Sheriff’s Office says investigators were able to locate the stolen puppy and return it safely. No word on whether the suspect has been tracked down.
Deadly Hit And Run In Queensbury
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly hit-and-run in Queensbury. WNYT reports deputies responded to a crash on Burke Drive late Friday night where a van was driving south when it hit a pedestrian and drove away. The person hit, 30 year old Shane Winchell, died at the scene. No word on if the vehicle or driver have been located.

LGCSD Unveils New Logo
The Lake George Central School District has unveiled its new logo and mascot as part of the district’s rebranding as “The Lakers.” WNYT reports the new mascot will be known as “Georgie,” which is Lake George’s own version of the Loch Ness monster. Local legend has sightings that date back to 1904. The elementary school once had a mascot with the same name.The district’s teams were formerly known as the Warriors.
Republican Criticism Of NY’s Clean Slate Law
New York’s U.S. House Republican delegation led by U.S. Reps. Elise Stefanik and Anthony D’Esposito have introduced a resolution condemning the state’s new Clean Slate law, which will automatically seal certain criminal records after a certain amount of time. The Daily Gazette reports Gov. Kathy Hochul signed the bill last month, which will seal records for felonies after eight years and misdemeanors after three years.
Aiming To Improve School Bus Transportation For Kids With Special Needs
Legislation has been introduced in both the Assembly and the Senate with the goal of improving school bus transportation for kids with special needs. WRGB reports the proposed amendment to the State Education Law, would ensure free transportation to and from school and place a 90-minute cap on transportation time.Each school district would also have a liaison to work with each child and their family.

The Warren County Department of Workforce Development wants help from business partners to help meet the needs of local youth. According to WNYT, the goal is to increase the number of teens engaged with Warren County businesses, so young people can gain work experience and connect with mentors.
