It’s Lake George’s biggest party of the year. The Adirondack Independence Music Festival will be at the Festival Commons in Wood Park with nearly two dozen bands August 30 through September 1. The music starts Friday at 1 p.m., noon on Saturday and Sunday, and continues each night through 11 p.m. on two stages. The festival features food, fun and fireworks. Queensbury woman arrested for extortion
According to a release, State Police have arrested a Queensbury woman for alleged extortion. Teesha Bapp, 35, was charged with third-degree grand larceny. State Police say their investigation revealed that Bapp threatened to falsely report that the victim had sexually assaulted her unless they paid the requested amount of money. Bapp was arrested on Friday, arraigned in Washington County and released.
Two men arrested in bugulary and theft in a Washington County Building
Two people are accused of stealing property from a Washington County building. Mathieu M. Forette, 23, and Carlos I. Ruiz Sr., 43, allegedly broke into a building White Creek and took property, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Charged with a felony count of burglary and misdemeanor count of criminal possession of stolen property, they were released on their own recognizance. Additional charges are likely.
Lake George Closure Of Warren County Bikeway
Attention Warren County Bikeway users — The section of the Bikeway between the Route 9L crossing and Fort George Road intersection in the Town of Lake George will be closed between Tuesday, September 3 and Friday, September 6 for repairs. Queensbury Woman Charged In Alleged Extortion Case
State Police have arrested a Queensbury woman for alleged extortion. Teesha Bapp, 35, was charged with third-degree grand larceny. WTEN reports troopers received a complaint on July 16 from a Washington County resident claiming they were being extorted, saying Bapp threatened to falsely report that the victim had sexually assaulted her unless they paid the requested amount of money. According to troopers, Bapp’s threats resulted in the theft of more than $3,000 from the victim during June and July.
Hudson Falls Man Draws Prison Time In Deadly Crash
A Hudson Falls man was sentenced to 2 to 6 years in prison for hitting a pedestrian with his vehicle and leaving the scene. According to WNYT, 34 year old Peter Northup Jr., pleaded guilty in June in connection to the Dec. 15 crash that killed 30 year old Shane M. Winchell of Queensbury. Winchell had finished work when he was hit by a minivan on Burke Drive.
Narcan Training For Overdose Awareness Day In Warren County
Staff from Warren County Health Services and partner agencies will distribute the opioid antidote naloxone at five locations in Warren County on Thursday, August 29, 2024 in observance of International Overdose Awareness Day. Personnel from Warren County Health Services and Alliance for Positive Health will be on site at the following locations at the designated times Thursday:

Police ID Lake George Drowning Victim
Police have released the identity of a man who drowned in Lake George on Tuesday. WNYT reports 25 year old
Rupak R. Padini was visiting the area with some friends and was in the area of Lamb Shanty Bay in Hague around 3:20 p.m. Padini was wearing a personal floatation device but slipped out of it.
Pair Accused Of Breaking Into, Stealing Property From Washington County Building
Two people are accused of stealing property from a Washington County building. 23 year old Mathieu M. Forette, and 43 year old Carlos I. Man Drowns In Lake George
Police have recovered the body of a man who drowned in Lake George. WNYT reports it happened in the northern part of the lake, northeast of Silver Bay between Hague and Putnam. A man in his 20s was swimming off of a boat and didn’t surface. The Warren County Sheriff’s dive team recovered his body just before 5 p.m. Tuesday.
