Seeking Broadband Solutions

Warren County and Warren County EDC are partnering on an effort to improve broadband internet service around Warren County. One of the phases of this project involves a survey of Internet service, which the our residents, business owners, students and anyone who uses or needs Internet service in Warren County is asked to complete.
It takes just a few minutes, and will let us know where there are gaps in service that need to be addressed.
This is an important step toward getting new providers and infrastructure for our county.

Latest Warren County COVID Numbers

Warren County Health Services reported 35 new Warren County resident COVID-19 cases as of Thursday morning, along with 10 additional recoveries.
On a positive note, hospitalizations dropped significantly as of Thursday. Eight (8) Warren County residents are hospitalized, five (5) fewer than Wednesday. One (1) is critically ill, and seven (7) are moderately ill. Seven (7) others are moderately ill outside of the hospital.
Health Services staff are monitoring 235 active COVID-19 cases as of Thursday. 220 of these cases involve mild illness.

Lake George Woman Faces Drug Counts

State Police in Wilton arrested 46-year-old Jeanine M. LaPointe of Lake George on drug counts.
LaPointe was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by State Police for a series of traffic violations on I-87 in Wilton Wednesday morning. When a Trooper approached the vehicle, they observed signs indicative of drug use and a probable cause search was conducted. During the search LaPointe was found to be in possession of approximately 3.6 grams of heroin. Police say they also found a hypodermic needle on LaPointe.

Local Project Receives Historic Preservation Award

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has announced that eleven projects preserving state history, ranging from an eighteenth-century Dutch barn rehabilitation to an artist installation memorializing black lives at John Brown Farm State Historic Site, have received 2020 State Historic Preservation Awards. Among the recipients, Dr. Ferguson’s House, Glens Falls, Warren County, for Excellence in Historic Building Rehabilitation. When Dr. Ferguson’s House became threatened with demolition, local preservationists Darren & Lisa Tracy stepped in to rescue it. With careful planning and cooperation, the Tracys rehabilitated the 1870 National Register-listed building using Federal & State Historic Tax Credits for use as an apartment building, thereby saving an important community treasure.

Latest Warren County COVID Numbers

Warren County Health Services reported eight (8) new Warren County resident COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday morning, along with 21 additional recoveries. That is the lowest total for new cases in a day in Warren County since December 17.
Thirteen (13) Warren County residents are hospitalized, unchanged from Tuesday. One (1) is critically ill, and 12 are moderately ill. Two (2) others are moderately ill outside of the hospital.
Health Services staff are monitoring 210 active COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday. 195 of these cases involve mild illness.

Police Probe OD

Police say a second person has died and a third is in critical condition after taking cocaine laced with fentanyl in Washington County. WNYT reports police are now saying approximately 15 people were treated at Glens Falls Hospital after overdosing on what they believe is the same batch of drugs. Investigators have identified a quantity of the drug and are hopeful they’ve seen the worst of it, but are asking anyone with information to call State Police in Greenwich or the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

South Glens Falls Man Arrested For Rape, Other Counts

State Police in have Wilton arrested 19-year-old David W. Lunt of South Glens Falls, for Rape and other counts.
Lunt was arrested following an investigation into a cybertip received by the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce. He is accused of possessing and promoting images of child sexual exploitation. Lunt was arraigned in Wilton Town Court and remanded to Saratoga County Jail on $50,000 cash bail

Whitehall Man Arrested Twice In Four Days

A Whitehall man has been arrested for the second time in four days On Monday, State Police in Queensbury arrested 25-year-old Matthew T. Pomainville of Whitehall, for Two counts of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation and Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs Pomainville was stopped by Troopers on State Route 4 in the town of Kingsbury, after being involved in a hit and run accident in the village of Glens Falls.

Latest Warren County COVID Cases

Warren County Health Services reports an additional COVID-19 fatality involving a Warren County residents as of Tuesday morning. This individual was in their 80s, and died at a skilled nursing facility. Warren County Health Services reported 21 new Warren County resident COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday morning, along with 30 additional recoveries.
Thirteen (13) Warren County residents are hospitalized, three (3) more than Monday. 12 are moderately ill, one (1) is critically ill. Health Services staff are monitoring 223 active COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday. 209 of these cases involve mild illness.

Whitehall Mann Charged With Possessing Stolen Property, Petit Larceny

State Police in Queensbury arrested 25-year-old Matthew T. Pomainville of Whitehall, for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th degree (A misdemeanor), and five counts of Petit Larceny (A misdemeanor). Pomainville was identified during a traffic stop on Dix Ave. in Hudson Falls, at approximately 3:05 a.m. on Saturday. He was stopped for a series of traffic violations and observed to match the description of a suspect that had committed multiple larcenies from Target in Queensbury. A probable cause search of his vehicle was conducted, and he was found to be in possession of multiple electronic items that were stolen from Target earlier in the day. From April of 2020 until his arrest, Pomainville is accused of stealing approximately $2,000 worth of goods from Target in Queensbury. These thefts occurred on numerous dates.
