Washington County Decides On Winter Sports

Washington County has joined the surrounding counties in allowing school districts to run high-risk sports this winter. The Post Star reports the Capital Region’s coronavirus positive test rate must be at or below 4%. Also, sports can’t begin until the district’s school board approves it. Each sport needs its own approval. Parents or guardians must sign a consent form acknowledging that their household is at higher risk of catching coronavirus due to sports.

School Construction Project Vote In Corinth

Residents on Tuesday approved a $12 million renovation project for Corinth Central School. The Post Star reports the vote was 190 in favor to 102 against what the district has dubbed the “Building Our Future, Restoring Our Past” project, which includes upgrades to the front of the middle and high school entrance, classroom renovations and an expansion and renovation of the auditorium.

Latest Warren County COVID Numbers

Warren County Health Services reported 18 new Warren County resident COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday, along with nine (9) additional recoveries.
Three (3) Warren County residents are hospitalized, one (1) more than Tuesday. All three (3) are moderately ill, and three (3) others are moderately ill outside of the hospital.
Health Services staff are monitoring 184 active COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday. 178 of these cases involve mild illness.

Warren County Health Services is reporting the deaths of two (2) Warren County residents from COVID-19. Both had been residents of a skilled nursing facility, and one (1) passed away at this facility, the other in a hospital. One was in their 80s, and the other was in their 90s.
Warren County Health Services reported 20 new Warren County resident COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday morning, along with 20 additional recoveries.
Two (2) Warren County residents are hospitalized, one (1) fewer than Monday. Both are moderately ill, and three (3) others are moderately ill outside of the hospital.

Warren County Health Services regrets to report the death of a Warren County resident to COVID-19. This person was in their 70s, became ill in a skilled nursing facility, and passed away at this facility.
Warren County has lost 23 residents to COVID-19 over the past month.
Three (3) Warren County residents are hospitalized, unchanged from Sunday. All three are moderately ill. One (1) other is moderately ill outside of the hospital.
Health Services staff are monitoring 177 active COVID-19 cases as of Monday. 173 of these cases involve mild illness.
All but one of Monday’s new cases stemmed from community exposures, with (1) occurring in a skilled nursing facility. Three (3) were quarantined before testing positive.

Sheriff’s Deputy Injured In Early Monday Crash

An Albany County Sheriff’s Department K-9 deputy was severely injured Monday morning in an accident involving a Price Chopper tractor-trailer. The deputy involved in the crash, 30-year-old Sgt. Joseph Iachetta, is in serious condition.
Colonie police say the crash happened just after 6 a.m. They say both vehicles were driving eastbound when the tractor-trailer tried to turn right into the Price Chopper at 1892 Central Ave. and hit the deputy’s SUV.

State Police Target Drivers During Super Bowl Weekend

State Police in Troop G removed 17 impaired drivers from local roadways during Super Bowl weekend. The special STOP-DWI enforcement campaign ran from Friday February 5, 2021 through Monday February 8, 2021. During the campaign Troopers in Troop G issued 690 traffic tickets including 147 for speeding, 21 for distracted driving, 14 for failure to move over, and 17 for not wearing a seatbelt. Troopers also responded to 60 traffic collisions. Troop G serves Warren, and Washington and surrounding counties.

It’s unclear what impact the merger would have on individual stores and employees.

Two Deaths, 11 New Warren County COVID Cases In Warren County

Warren County Health Services is reporting the deaths of two Warren County residents to COVID-19. The individuals were in the 50s and 60s and had lived in skilled nursing facilities before being hospitalized when contracting COVID-19.

Three (3) Warren County residents are hospitalized, two (2) fewer than Saturday. All three are moderately ill. One (1) other is moderately ill outside of the hospital.
