Warren County Health Services reported seven (7) new Warren County resident COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday morning, along with 15 additional recoveries.
The last day with a daily new case number as low was December 17, when there were six (6) cases reported.
Four (4) Warren County residents are hospitalized, unchanged from Monday. All four (4) are moderately ill, and one (1) other is moderately ill outside of the hospital.
Boat Maker Moving To Queensbury
Hacker Boat is coming to Queensbury, six years after an earlier project fell through. The Post Star reports the maker of high-end wooden boats is under contract to purchase the former Perkins Recycling property at 315 Corinth Road for $2.4 million. The offices have already been moved from the Ticonderoga headquarters to Queensbury after the renovations were completed.
Massachusetts Man Arrested For Drugs, DWI In Queensbury
State Police in Queensbury arrested 22-year-old Adam S. Grzyb of Dudley, MA., for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Driving While Intoxicated. State Police stopped Grzyb for a traffic infraction as he traveled on I-87 in the town of Queensbury late Sunday night. When the Trooper approached the vehicle to speak with him, they could smell the odor of alcohol coming from the interior. Grzyb was administered the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which he failed, and taken into custody. Further investigation revealed that he was also in possession of approximately 2.5 grams of cocaine.

Warren County Health Services reported 10 new Warren County resident COVID-19 cases as of Monday morning, along with 21 additional recoveries.
Four (4) Warren County residents are hospitalized, unchanged from Sunday. All four (4) are moderately ill, and one (1) other is moderately ill outside of the hospital.
Health Services staff are monitoring 150 active COVID-19 cases as of Monday. 145 of these cases involve mild illness.
Saratoga Woman Charged In Queensbury With DWI
A Saratoga Springs woman was charged with charged with driving while intoxicated in connection with a crash. The Warren County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Main Street in the town of Queensbury, for a property damage crash. A 2015 Jeep, operated by 60 year old Eileen T. Cotter had struck another vehicle at that location. Upon interviewing Cotter, police determined that she was intoxicated and subsequently arrested her for DWI. Cotter was charged processed and released to appear in the Queensbury Town Court on a later date.
Broadband Survey Coming For Washington County
Washington County’s Finance Committee has approved a $15,000 spending request to hire ECC Technologies, a Rochester-area telecommunications company, to conduct a map survey and internet speed test to determine what roads have fiber internet lines running along them and whether already existing internet service meets the standard for high-speed service of download speeds of 25 megabits per second. The Post Star reports it will cost $30,000, with the Lake Champlain-Lake George Regional Planning Board covering half the costs using a portion of CARES Act funding received last year.
Vaccine Supplies Still An Issue
As of Saturday, vaccine supplies in Warren County continue to be extremely limited.
New York State has established guidelines that require Warren County Health Services to administer vaccines only to certain essential worker groups in Phase 1B. Pharmacies have been designated as vaccine locations for those 65 and over, and their supplies are expected to increase in the coming weeks.
“At this point, we are encouraging the elderly to try to get an appointment with our local pharmacies,” Warren County Health Services Director Ginelle Jones said.
New York State-run clinics have been designated for vaccine for anyone who qualifies, and as of Saturday morning, the state-operated clinic in Potsdam is the only state clinic that listed available vaccination appointments

State Police Warn Of Text Message Phishing Schemes
The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles today warned New Yorkers of ongoing text message phishing schemes. These illegitimate text messages ask recipients to update their driver license contact information. The messages link to a phony DMV website. Anyone who received such a text message should not provide any personal data and should delete it right away. Phishing texts are fraudulent messages scammers use to obtain data or sensitive personal information. That information can be used to commit identity theft or trick the recipient into installing malicious software onto a computer or mobile device.
