The Salvation Army of Glens Falls, in cooperation with the USDA Farmers to Families Food Box program, is extending its contactless drive-thru food distribution to include four Mondays in March. The Post Star reports the drive-thru will be open to anyone in need from 10 a.m. to noon on March 1, 8, 15 and 22 in the Great Escape parking lot at 33 Round Pond Road in Queensbury.
Solar Array Public Hearing In Moreau Set For April 19th
The Moreau Town Planning Board got its first look at 74 acres of proposed solar panels Monday, and it didn’t like it. The Post Star reports the board set a public hearing for April 19. The hearing will likely be held via Zoom, with an option for people to call in if they prefer. Developer U.S. Light Energy has proposed two 5-megawatt solar arrays on one parcel, at 65 Reynolds Road, which is the former Tee Bird South Golf Course. It is zoned residential.
Albany Getting Pro Lax Team
The New England Black Wolves of the National Lacrosse League are relocating to Albany, the league has announced. The franchise played six seasons at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. It was sold to a group headed by Oliver Marti, a former league player and two-time All-American at Brown in the 1990s. Mike French, a three-time All-American at Cornell in the mid-1970s, Brad Brewster and Ted Goldthorpe will retain a minority stake. The team will play its home games at Times Union Center in downtown Albany.
Merger May Be In Future For Whitehall, Granville Football Programs
Granville and Whitehall look to be headed to joining forces on the gridiron. This week, Whitehall’s Board of Education approved a merger of the football programs. The Granville Board still has to vote in favor. The merger would be for the fall of 2021, and would not be for the coronavirus pandemic-delayed 2020 season, set for the “Fall II season” from March 13-May 1. Granville has already opted out of the Fall II season. There would be a head coach from each district and shared input into the program.

Warren County Health Services reported three (3) new Warren County resident COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday morning, along with 13 additional recoveries. The last day where the daily new case number was three (3) or fewer was December 13.
Three (3) Warren County residents are hospitalized, unchanged from Monday. All three (3) are moderately ill.

Hudson Falls School District Capital Project Approved
A nearly $17 million capital project for the Hudson Falls school district has been passed by residents. The Tuesday tally was 275 in favor, 76 against. The project will upgrade security at the main entrances, renovate the library and auditorium and replace roofs at the primary school and high school, according to the Post Star. Final design work should happen in the next few months with construction done by September 2023.
Latest Warren County COVID Numbers
Warren County Health Services regrets to report that two additional Warren County residents have passed away due to COVID-19 infections. Both had been hospitalized, and lived at home before becoming seriously ill. One was in their 80s and the other in their 90s.
Warren County Health Services reported nine (9) new Warren County resident COVID-19 cases as of Monday morning, along with 18 additional recoveries.
Three (3) Warren County residents are hospitalized, two (2) fewer Sunday in light of additional fatalities. All three (3) are moderately ill. Two (2) others are moderately ill but not hospitalized.
COVID Vaccine Update
Warren County Health Services is expecting 300 doses of vaccine this week for local distribution.
200 of the doses arrived Monday; they were expected last week but were delayed by weather. 100 of those will be dedicated to those with health conditions known as “comorbidities” and 100 for essential workers.
The additional 100 expected later this week will be used for essential workers as well, as New York State has established guidelines that require Warren County Health Services to administer its regular weekly supply of vaccines only to certain essential worker groups in Phase 1B.
Messy Sidewalks Prompt Action In Glens Falls
A series of snow events that have plagued the region in recent days has left many Glens Falls sidewalks unpassable because property owners or their tenants haven’t cleared the sidewalks of snow and ice. The Post Star reports City Code states that property owners and/or property occupants who fail to clear their sidewalks of snow and ice within 5 hours following a storm could be liable for fines of up to $250 and up to 15 days in jail. City Code Enforcement staff will be placing door hangers at properties that are in violation, asking the property owner or occupant to clear the sidewalk.
