Info About Aviation Mall Vaccination Site

New York State’s new vaccination clinic at Aviation Mall has begun operation. Parking and the entrance for this new clinic are at the front of the former Sears store in the southeast corner of the mall.
Appointments are arranged through a link on the Warren County Facebook page. The site is currently offering the Pfizer vaccine. Warren County Health Services does not have a role in scheduling at this site.
New York State is seeking paid and volunteer staff for this site.

Queensbury’s New Mass Vaccination Site Taking Appointments

Governor Andrew M. Cuomohas announced that appointments are now available at ten new state-run mass vaccination sites across the state. All ten sites will open on Friday, March 19 and will operate from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily. Each site will have the ability to vaccinate more than one thousand New Yorkers daily dependent on supply from the federal government. Appointments are being take for the sites including Queensbury Aviation Mall – Sears, 578 Aviation Road in Queensbury.

Warren County COVID Cases

Warren County Health Services reported 12 new Warren County resident COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday morning, along with seven (7) additional recoveries.
Two (2) Warren County residents are hospitalized, unchanged from Tuesday. Both are moderately ill.
Health Services staff are monitoring 108 active COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday.

Northern Zone Bear Hunting Numbers

New York State bear hunters took 1,723 black bears during the 2020 hunting seasons, Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Basil Seggos announced today. In the Northern Zone, hunters harvested an estimated 571 bears-the highest number since 2015. A productive early season in the Northern Zone is generally followed by a relatively low regular season harvest, with the reverse anticipated in the year to come. The 2020 bear harvest followed this pattern, with an early season harvest that increased four-fold from 2019, and a regular season harvest that dropped approximately 25 percent from 2019 numbers.

Warren County Urges Homebound Who Want Vaccine To Call

Warren County Health Services is asking any Warren County resident who is homebound and wants a COVID-19 vaccination to have their physician or medical provider contact the Health Services office to verify that a home visit is needed. Caregivers for the homebound will be eligible for in-home vaccination as well under certain circumstances.

Warren County Health Services reported seven (7) new Warren County resident COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday morning, along with seven (7) additional recoveries.
Two (2) Warren County residents are hospitalized, one (1) fewer than Monday after one discharge. Both are moderately ill, and one (1) who had been critically ill improved to moderate condition.

State Police Boosting Drunk, Impaired Driving Patrols

The New York State Police will increase patrols to combat drunk, impaired and reckless driving as St. Patrick’s Day celebrations get underway starting this weekend. This special traffic enforcement detail, which is funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC), begins on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, and runs through Sunday, March 21, 2021. Drivers can expect to encounter additional DWI patrols and a number of sobriety checkpoints during the enforcement period. State Police will also be ticketing districted drivers who are using handheld electronic devices, and will also conduct underage drinking and unlawful sales to minors details during the campaign.

Washington County Sheriff’s Office Taking Part In St. Patrick’s Day DWI Crackdown

In a combined effort to stop impaired driving, prevent injuries and save lives, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and law enforcement officers across New York State continue to be out in force during a special STOP-DWI St. Patrick’s holiday crackdown. While STOP-DWI efforts across New York have led to significant reductions in the numbers of alcohol and drug related fatalities, still too many lives are being lost because of crashes caused by drunk or impaired drivers. Highly visible, highly publicized efforts like the STOP-DWI Crackdown Campaign aim to further reduce the incidence of drunk and impaired driving. Research shows that high-visibility enforcement can reduce drunk driving fatalities by as much as 20 percent. Sobriety checkpoints and roving patrols play a key part in raising awareness about the problem.

Warren County Vaccine Update

Warren County Health Services is expecting 500 doses of COVID-19 vaccine for first doses, and will schedule clinics later this week per New York State guidelines. Public clinic links will be distributed as they are created.
On Wednesday, March 17, certain public sector/government, non-profit and building services workers will become eligible for vaccination.
