Hacker Boat Gets Tax Breaks For Factory Work

The Warren-Washington Industrial Development Agency has granted tax breaks to help Hacker Boat with renovating the old Perkins Recycling plant into its new manufacturing center. The Post Star reports the maker of high end boats is under contract to buy the property at 315 Corinth Road for $2.4 million and company executives intend to pour in another $600,000 for renovations. The company was seeking relief from mortgage and sales tax and a payment-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement.

New Roofs In The Works In Glens Falls

Glens Falls is moving ahead with a pair of costly construction projects that will put new roofs on Cool Insuring Arena and City Hall. The Post Star reports the arena roof is expected to cost a bit over $2.3 million. Bids are due by the end of the month and construction is expected to begin in early May and conclude by the end of summer. A new roof for City Hall is expected to cost about $750,000.

Warren County COVID Update

Warren County Health Services reported three (3) new Warren County resident COVID-19 cases as of Monday morning, along with 20 additional recoveries.
Seven (7) Warren County residents are hospitalized, unchanged from Sunday. All are moderately ill.
Health Services staff are monitoring 125 active COVID-19 cases as of Monday.

NYSP Warns Of Online Social Predators

New York State Police want to warn New Yorkers, especially parents, following cases of teens being targeted by criminals while online. Investigators say the suspect(s) locate teen victims on social media, friending or following the teens, then gaining their trust. When trust is established, investigators say the suspects ask for photos and/or videos of the teen, usually provocative in nature. Once the videos are secured by these predators, they demand payment, sometimes thousands of dollars, or they threaten to release the images on social media.

Latest Warren County COVID Numbers

Warren County Health Services reported three (3) new Warren County resident COVID-19 cases as of Easter Sunday morning, along with 16 additional recoveries.
Seven (7) Warren County residents are hospitalized, unchanged from Saturday. All are moderately ill.
Health Services staff are monitoring 142 active COVID-19 cases as of Sunday. 135 of these cases involve mild illness.

Warren County COVID Vaccine Update

Warren County Health Services is awaiting its vaccine allocation for this week. Health Services staff held first-dose and second-dose clinics on Saturday, administering 150 first doses and 100 second doses.
Health Services and Warren/Hamilton Counties Office for the Aging staff also assisted Kinney Drugs with a mass vaccination event Saturday for second doses at SUNY Adirondack where 1,170 doses were planned.

Albany Man Busted For Stolen Vehicle, Ten Pounds Of Pot

State Police at SP Capital arrested 23-year-old Damani D. Julien of Albany, for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property and Criminal Possession of Marihuana. State Police stopped Julien for a traffic violation as he traveled on Jay Street in the city of Albany last week. During the traffic stop it was determined that the vehicle he was operating had been reported stolen from the city of Albany. Julien was taken into custody and a subsequent search of his person and the vehicle revealed that he was in possession of approximately 10 pounds of marijuana.

Vermont Man Busted In Fort Ann Traffic Stop

State Police in Granville arrested 30-year-old Justin R. Heath of Starkboro, VT, for two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.
State Police stopped Heath for a traffic infraction as he traveled on State Route 4 in Fort Ann last week. When the Trooper spoke with Heath, they observed marijuana in plain view inside the vehicle. A probable cause search was conducted and revealed that Heath was also in possession of two handguns and approximately 6 grams of methamphetamine. Heath does not have a permit for the handguns in New York.

Latest Warren County COVID Numbers

Warren County Health Services reported 15 new Warren County resident COVID-19 cases as of Thursday morning, along with six (6) additional recoveries.
Eight (8) Warren County residents are hospitalized, two (2) more than Wednesday, which is the highest hospitalization figure since February 4th. All are moderately ill, and an additional patient is moderately ill outside of the hospital.

Federal Grants For Non Profits, Local Governments

Governor Cuomo has announced $4.6 million in federal grant funding is available for economic and community development within New York’s Northern Border Region. Competitive grant funding is available for qualified projects within New York’s 28 federally-designated Northern Border Regional Commission Counties. Among the counties impacted are Warren, Washington, Saratoga,Rensselaer, Albany and Schenectady. Local governments and not-for-profit organizations in New York’s NBRC Counties are eligible to apply for these competitive grants.
