Warren County COVID Update

Warren County Health Services reported four (4) new Warren County resident COVID-19 cases as of Sunday morning, along with 15 additional recoveries.
Five (5) Warren County residents are hospitalized, one (1) fewer than Saturday. All five (5) are moderately ill. Two (2) are moderately ill outside of the hospital.
Health Services staff are monitoring 102 active COVID-19 cases as of Sunday.

DEC Releases Deer Harvest Numbers

The 2020 estimated deer take included 137,557 antlerless deer and 116,433 antlered bucks. Statewide, this represents a 30-percent increase in antlerless harvest and a three-percent decrease in buck harvest from the last season. Across the board, whether with a bow, muzzleloader, or rifle, hunters targeted antlerless deer more in 2020 than 2019, supporting DEC’s management objectives to maintain stable deer populations in most of the State and to reduce deer abundance in a few areas. Hunters took 33,260 deer in the Northern Zone, a 10-percent increase from 2019, primarily due to increased antlerless harvest.

Lake George Man Busted For Drugs In Queensbury

State police in Queensbury arrested 43-year-old Muhammad Zishan of Lake George for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and other drug counts. State Police responded to a report of a man sleeping in a vehicle on Sage Drive in the town of Queensbury. The Trooper observed a large quantity of marijuana in plain view on backseat of the vehicle. The marijuana weighed over five pounds. While removing the marijuana they also located a glass jar containing approximately 28 grams of cocaine.

‘No Empty Chair’ Initiative In Warren County

Throughout this week, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office NY has been participating in a statewide traffic safety initiative, No Empty Chair, to prioritize teen driving enforcement to make sure there are “no empty chairs” at proms and graduations this spring. The emphasis of this initiative is to focus on teen driving safety, education and enforcement to raise awareness of highway dangers during prom and graduation season.

Prescription Drug Take Back Day Saturday

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office and DEA are partnering in a drug “Take-Back” initiative this Saturday, April 24th from 10am to 2pm. They’ll be collecting expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications, and hope to prevent the misuse and potential abuse of these medications through proper collection and destruction.
The collection site will be located in the lobby of our Sheriff’s Office at 1400 State Route 9 in Queensbury. This service is free of charge and anonymous…no questions asked.

Warren County COVID Numbers

Warren County Health Services is reporting an additional COVID-19 death involving a Warren County resident. This individual was 70 years old, lived in the community before becoming critically ill and had been hospitalized in recent days.
Warren County Health Services reported 15 new Warren County resident COVID-19 cases as of Thursday morning, along with eight additional recoveries. Eight Warren County residents are hospitalized, one (1) fewer than Wednesday in light of a fatality. .

Saturday COVID Vaccine Clinic In Washington County

There are still open appointments remaining for the Washington County, NY Public Health Department COVID-19 Vaccination Event Saturday , April 24th, which is being held at the Washington County Burgoyne Avenue Campus, 1153 Burgoyne Avenue, Fort Edward. They’ll be distributing the two-shot Moderna vaccine.

Nine (9) Warren County residents are hospitalized, two (2) more than Tuesday in light of two (2) new admissions. One (1) is critically ill and eight are moderately ill.

Lake George Gathering Leads To Saratoga Springs HS Teams’ Quarantine

A gathering Lake George recently has led to two boys varsity teams at Saratoga Springs High School being quarantined. The Post Star reports in the past week, 23 students at the high school have tested positive for coronavirus. That’s 25% of all of the high school’s cases this school year. The boys volleyball and football teams are quarantined, and all of their games for this week have been canceled.

Ranger Rescue In Bolton

A ranger rescue in the Town of Bolton. DEC’s Ray Brook Dispatch received a call from two lost hikers in the Tongue Mountain Range. The pair was concerned about becoming lost in the woods after dark. The hikers were still on the trail, 3.5 miles from the nearest trailhead, and an additional five miles away from their vehicle. The hikers were encouraged to continue making their way out of the woods. About an hour later, the hikers called back as one of them was having a panic attack, fearful that their cell lights wouldn’t last much longer. A Forest Ranger responded to assist the 26-year-old women from Montgomery, NY and got them pair out of the woods.
