In Glens Falls, officials are going to test permitted overnight parking in a ward-by-ward pilot program. The Post Star reports as parking improvements are being researched and reviewed by city officials, a test program for on-street overnight parking has been a priority of the city’s Special Projects Committee. It is currently against the law to park on city streets from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m.
Warm Weather Cancels Fire & Ice
With warm temperatures and two bouts of precipitation moving through this week, event organizers in the city of Glens Falls have decided to cancel the last February Friday of Fire & Ice. WTEN reports event organizers will keep an eye on the conditions – they’re hoping to hold the event on a Friday during the month of March. Winterfest, scheduled for Saturday in Washington County, was also called off due to weather.
New Fire Apparatus Approved For Lake George
Both the Lake George town and village boards approved purchasing a new fire truck at their respective meetings held Feb. 13.
Sun Community News reports each board voted unanimously to spend $1.67 million on a new Rosenbauer Commander Cobra fire truck with a 104-foot aerial firefighting platform. The resolutions specify that at least $470,734 be drawn from the municipalities’ joint fire department equipment reserve fund.
Young Child Struck With TV During Domestic Incident
A Cambridge man is accused of hurting a child with a TV during a domestic incident. WNYT reports the six-month-old child was hit in the head with a flat screen TV during a fight between 24 year old Trenton Hamilton of Cambridge and his girlfriend He is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, criminal mischief, assault and aggravated harassment. The infant was treated at the hospital and released.
Ice Castles In Lake George Reopening This Week
The Ice Castles in Lake George are coming back this week. WNYT reports the frozen castles are set to reopen on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. The Ice Bar and the Mystic Light Walk are still open now, despite the repairs. Tickets are on sale from Wednesday to Sunday, February 26.
NBC’s Today Show In Lake George
The varied winter activities that Lake George offers will be depicted to an audience of millions on Monday, Feb. 20, as NBC television network’s “Today Show” conducts a live broadcast at 8:30 a.m. from Lake George Village. The Sun Community News reports The Feb. 20 broadcast from Lake George will be the only winter destination portrayed in the “Winter Escape” series, according to NBC affiliate station WNYT.
Lake George Board Trustee Unopposed In Bid For Mayor
Lake George Village Board Trustee Raymond Perry is slated to serve as the next Lake George Village mayor. Perry is running unopposed. According to WNYT, the window to submit petitions of intentions to run for the position closed Tuesday. Perry, who was first elected to the board in 2007, is looking to replace Bob Blais, who has served as mayor for 52 years.

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced more than $658 million in state funding to support 127 projects that will protect and transform New York State’s health care delivery system. Among the recipients, Fort Hudson Nursing Center which is receiving just under $6 million to retire debt, say officials, to better position the organization for long-term sustainability.
Cambridge School Board Member Steps Down
Cambridge School Board member Neil Gifford has resigned, citing the controversy over the school’s Indian mascot as his reason to leave. WNYT reports the contentious Cambridge mascot controversy has been brewing in Washington County for several years and last year, the education commissioner ordered schools to retire native-themed mascots by the end of this current school year.
Three Arrested After Traffic Stop In Queensbury
Three arrests by State Police in Queensbury. Fantasia L. Jabot, 27, and 22 year old Vincent Potter Jr., both of Queensbury, and 30 year old Caitlin M. Pruess, 30, of Glens Falls, were stopped in a stolen vehicle on Corinth Road in Queensbury, NY. Pruess was driving, say police and officers say multiple glass smoking devices and Controlled Substances were located within the vehicle. Jabot and Potter Jr. were passengers and were taken into custody. Potter Jr. was also found to possess an illegal weapon.
