Stec Appointed To Queensbury Town Board

Hilary Stec of Queensbury, who has deep experience in human resources management, has been appointed by the Queensbury Town Board to serve as a town supervisor-at-large on the Warren County Board of Supervisors. Stec is taking on the seat that became open recently due to Rachel Seeber’s retirement, reports the Sun Community News.

Cambridge Man Facing Charges After Vehicle Incident

State Police of Greenwich arrested Shannon L. Hunt Jr., 33, of Cambridge, NY, for two counts of Criminal Mischief, Criminal Contempt and Reckless Endangerment. State Police responded to the reports of a domestic dispute in the area of Legrys Road in Jackson, NY. The victims were located at the Cambridge Village Police Department. The investigation determined that Hunt Jr intentionally struck a vehicle with his vehicle multiple times, which caused the vehicle to exit the road and injured two occupants. The victim’s vehicle was occupied by one adult and five children under the age of 17.

Gansevoort Man Sentenced For Failing To Follow Sex Offender Requirements

A Gansevoort man was sentenced to 1 to 3 years in prison for failing to follow requirements as a registered sex offender.
According to the Post Star, 25 year old Bryan A. Lynch was arrested by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in March 2022 after an investigation determined that he failed to disclose an email address to authorities for the sex offender registry.
Lynch pleaded guilty in Washington County Court in January to a felony charge of failure to register and was sentenced on Feb. 10.

Man Charged With Assaulting Inmate At Washington County Jail

A Hampton man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting an inmate while locked up at the Washington County Jail. The Post Star reports 37 year old Damien Beayon assaulted another incarcerated individual and injured that person.
Beayon was charged with felony second-degree assault. He was arraigned in Washington County Centralized Arraignment Court and due back in Fort Edward Town Court at a later date.

Student Fundraiser Raises Big Bucks

One of the biggest student-driven fundraisers in the country wrapped up Saturday in South Glens Falls. According to WNYT, hundreds of students danced their way to raising hundreds of thousands of dollars at the annual South High marathon dance, raising more than $630,000. Since it started in 1978, the event has raised more than $10 million.

New Culinary Program At Paul Smith’s College

Paul Smith’s College is launching a new culinary certification program in spring 2024, and college administrators hope the program — which is partially based in New York City — could boost regular enrollment at the college with a more diverse range of students. Adirondack Daily Enterprise reports announcement of the new program came just days after the college’s board of trustees agreed to freeze tuition rates at the school in an effort to keep the cost of college accessible for more people, and to reverse PSC’s downward enrollment trend.

Gov Announces Funding For Addiction Outreach Services

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced the availability of $3.2 million to expand outreach and engagement services in high-need areas of New York State. Providers can apply for up to $400,000 to support both the expanded services and to purchase vehicles for outreach efforts, according to the request for applications. Warren County is among the eligible areas.

Two Shot In Attempted Home Invasion In Glens Falls

Two people were shot in Glens Falls, following what police are calling an attempted home invasion. WNYT reports the two people shot were breaking into the home when a third person who lived there shot them. The two remained at Albany Medical Center Thursday night, with one in critical condition. All three of the people involved are from the Glens Falls and Hudson Falls area, police said.

Warren County Composting Meeting

Warren County will host a public meeting Wednesday, March 15 for a presentation on options for disposal of food scraps and yard waste in Warren County, and the options going forward. This could include a county-run composting facility or other options, which could save money and better serve the environment.
