Glens Falls Man Facing DWI Charges

A Glens Falls man who was previously convicted of DWI has been arrested again, for alleged drunken driving. According to WNYT, the Warren County sheriff’s office says 32-year-old Jeffrey McKenna was pulled over on Warren Street in Glens Falls for traffic violations. Deputies say the charge was upgraded to a felony, because of a previous DWI conviction in the last 10 years.

Warrensburg Man Facing Charges After Traffic Stop

A Warrensburg man is facing several charges after a traffic stop. WNYT reports 26-year-old Ryan Barrett tried to drive away when police attempted to pull him over on state Route 9. He was eventually stopped and was taken into custody. Police say he was driving with a suspended driver’s license and was intoxicated. He’s facing multiple counts of DWI and other charges. He’s due in Warrensburg town court at a later date.

Big Storm To Cover Wide Swath Of The State

Governor Kathy Hochul today urged New Yorkers to prepare this weekend for a significant snowstorm forecast to impact the eastern regions of the state beginning Monday and continuing through Tuesday night. Widespread areas of the Capital Region, Central New York, Mid-Hudson, Mohawk Valley and North Country Regions could see up to 18 inches of snow during this time period. Higher elevations in the Capital and Mid-Hudson regions, where the most accumulations of snow are expected, could receive more than two feet of snow by Wednesday morning.

Toy And Comics Event Comes To Lake George In April

Toys, trinkets, comics and cosplay are coming to the village of Lake George at the end of April. WTEN reports the inaugural Greater Adirondack Toy and Comic Show comes to the Lake George Holiday Inn on Sunday, April 30. The show is set to feature dealers offering vintage toys, comics and collectibles from the 1980s and ’90s, from Marvel and DC to “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and “Transformers.”

Area Real Estate Team Has Big Expansion Plans

A local real estate team hopes to triple in size. WNYT reports The Shannon McCarthy team is joining EXP Realty, combining the resources of a brick-and-mortar office from their headquarters in Saratoga Springs and Lake George, along with the innovative, technology resources provided by a cloud brokerage. McCarthy plans to hire 25 new agents to support the growth of the team, and three full-time staff members. That will bump the roster from 14 to 42.

Stefanik Issues Call To Keep Milk Flowing To WIC Families

Congresswoman Elise Stefanik and Congressman Josh Harder (D-CA) have led a bipartisan letter to United States Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack calling on him to oppose the Biden Administration’s proposed rule to reduce the amount of milk available to WIC families. They said the proposed reduction of dairy in the WIC food packages will have unintended and significant negative effects on the health of WIC participants.

Northway Lane Closures Advisory

Drivers heading northbound on the Adirondack Northway (Interstate-87) are being advised to watch for lane closures between Exits 22 and 23. Two or three lanes will be closed between Wednesday at 7 a.m. and Friday at 5 p.m.
The New York Department of Transportation is continuing work in an effort to replace the bridges that pass over U.S. Route 9 in the Town of Lake George. Drivers on Route 9 are also advised to watch for brief intermittent closures for equipment and steel staging.

Americade’s 40th festival in Lake George is set for Wednesday-Sunday, May 31 – June 4, centered in the village of Lake George. Every year, hundreds of thousands of motorcycle riders and enthusiasts visit the region. Events typically include vendor areas set up along the lake, comedy and music for visitors, and days of long rides up into the Adirondacks.

Woman Gets 10 Years For Shooting Husband

The Chester woman who shot and injured her husband in April 2021 was sentenced recently to 10 years in prison after the judge rejected her attorney’s request for a lighter sentence claiming she was a victim of domestic violence. The Post Star reports 74 year old Susan Bohmer was arrested on April 25, 2021, for shooting her husband in the stomach with a 9mm handgun at their 365 Hardscrabble Road residence. Raymond Bohmer had multiple bullet wounds and spent several days in the intensive care unit at Albany Medical Center, but survived.

Paying It Forward…With A Fire Engine

The Hampton Volunteer Fire Company got a truck in 2010 from Fort Edward for just $1. Now that they got a new one, they can donate that truck to someone else. WNYT reports they were able to buy a new-to-them truck from Greenwich Fire and now, the Hampton company is donating their existing one to Alpha One Fire and Rescue on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.
