State Police of Wilton arrested Renee E. Barrett, 52, of South Glens Falls, NY, and Erick J. Talback, 54, of Glens Falls, NY, both charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. Their vehicle was pulled over in the area of Saratoga Road in Moreau. Neither Barrett nor Talback possessed a valid driver’s license. Further investigation discovered felony-weight narcotics in the vehicle. Both were arrested and transported to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility without bail.

Hochul Announces Conceptual Budget Agreement
Nearly a month after its April 1 due date, New York state lawmakers have approved a conceptual budget agreement. WNYT reports Hochul said, “I know this budget process has taken a little extra time, but our commitment to the future of New York was driving this,” said Hochul. “What was important is not a race to a deadline, but a race to the right results.” The $229 billion budget includes big investments in gun violence prevention, mental health care and abortion access.
Earth Day Clean Up Efforts In Washington County
Environmental Conservation Officers rolled up their sleeves during Earth Week and joined other DEC personnel and volunteers to clean up trash in Washington County near popular fishing areas along the Champlain and Old Barge canals. In total, 30 bags of trash, 39 tires, several sinks and toilets, TVs and computer monitors, and a variety of other large items were collected from the two-mile section of canal and transported for proper disposal.
Kingsbury Man Accused Of Telling Police His Vehicle Was Stolen, When It Wasn’t
State Police of Granville arrested Anthony R. Goodspeed, 54, of Kingsbury for Falsely Reporting an Incident.
On April 16, 2023, at about 3:00 p.m., Troopers received a complaint from Goodspeed that a vehicle he owned had been stolen from his residence the same day. The investigation determined Goodspeed had relinquished ownership of the vehicle in February 2023 to a person known to him who currently had possession of the vehicle. Further investigation determined he obtained a duplicate title in an attempt to defraud law enforcement.
Warrensburg Woman Arrested For Grand Larceny
State Police of Queensbury arrested Jennifer A. Winter, 36, of Warrensburg for Grand Larceny.
On February 1, 2023, at about 8:31 p.m., Troopers received a report from an elderly Warren County resident reporting fraudulent bank and credit card activity. The investigation determined Winter, who is known to the victim, used the victim’s credit card multiple times without authorization, allegedly stealing more than $8,000.
Whitehall Home Goes Up In Flames
Fire has destroyed a home at 171 Broadway in Whitehall. According to WNYT, the building – right in the middle of the village – was destroyed. Reports indicate a A man had been living in the building while he renovated it. Firefighters were worried he might be inside. However, they later learned he was away at the time.
Schools In Warrensburg To Have Law Enforcement Officers On Duty This Fall
The elementary and high schools in Warrensburg will have armed law enforcement officers on duty beginning this fall, according to a decision made April 17 by the Warrensburg Central School Board of Education. The Sun Community News reports the school board voted to spend up to $90,000 to fund the positions of two part-time school resource officers (SROs) — one for the elementary school and another for the high school for the 2023-24 school year.
Four Deputies Hired To Work In Fort Edward
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has hired four deputies to serve in the village of Fort Edward. The village is finalizing a plan from earlier in the year to dissolve its police department after years of staff shortages. WTEN reports the Washington County Board of Supervisors approved a proposal last week to hire the deputies. The village will pay Washington County about $384,000 a year for the deputy’s salaries, benefits, and uniforms.
Warren County Board Of Supervisors Meetings
The Warren County Board of Supervisors will hold its monthly committee meetings Tuesday and Friday, April 25 and April 28, starting at 9 a.m. each day. The Criminal Justice Health Services, Public Works, Tourism, Occupancy Tax, DPW, Facilities and Economic Growth committees are among the meetings on the schedule.
These meetings on the second floor at Warren County Municipal Center are open to the public.
Looking To Repurpose Junior-Senior High School Swimming Pool In Whitehall
Officials in Whitehall are planning to repurpose the swimming pool at the junior-senior high school. The pool suffered significant flood damage during a several storm in August 2020.
The board of education voted unanimously to repurpose the space for special education and social and emotional services. Officials said it would allow the school to serve more students and staff. They also said a new pool would not be eligible for state funding but repurposing the space is.
