A Johnsburg man was arrested May 10 after an argument at a softball game became violent. State Police say Gideon J. Bezio, 35, had apparently gotten into a verbal argument with another person, during which Bezio allegedly grabbed a bat and hit the victim on the side of the head and caused them to bleed. Johnsburg EMS was on the scene to evaluate the victim, who was then transported to Glens Falls Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. That person was treated and released.

CDTA, GGFT Will Merge
On Thursday, the Capital District Transit Authority (CDTA) formalized a merger with Greater Glens Falls Transit (GGFT), starting a new chapter for the North Country bus system. WTEN reports the merger will move management of GGFT to the Capital Region authority, which last year expanded to begin service into Montgomery County. Warren County will become the sixth in which CDTA operates.
former Granville Central School Administrator Facing Felony Grand Larceny Charges
A former Granville Central School administrator is facing felony grand larceny charges. WNYT reports 35 year old Tyler Kelly was the transportation supervisor until state police began investigating thefts from the school. Kelly was using school accounts like they were his own over a period of at least three years, said investigators. He bought several thousand dollars’ worth of tools, and also tires for his car on two separate occasions, investigators said.
Warren County DPW Doing Paving, Reconstruction Projects In Northern Towns
The Warren County Department of Public Works is tackling more than a dozen major road paving and reconstruction projects through this summer, most of which are located in the county’s northern towns. According to Sun Community News, these projects will require temporary or long-term lane restrictions, as well as full road closures during construction, which may take weeks or several months to complete, according to county officials.
LGLC Scores Two Grants
The Lake George Land Conservancy (LGLC) has been awarded two grants, totaling $68,300, from the 2023 New York State Conservation Partnership Program. A $44,500 grant will fund improvements at Peggy’s Point in the Town of Hague.
The second grant of $23,800 will fund expanded technology and other resources that will increase the LGLC’s ability to effectively engage and communicate with the public, according to Sun Community News.
Ranger Rescue In Lake George
A wilderness rescue recently in the Town of Lake George. Forest Rangers responded to a call for an injured hiker on the trail to Prospect Mountain. Rangers reached the pair of hikers and stabilized the ankle of the injured 23-year-old from Latham. Rangers assisted the hikers back to the trailhead and then to their vehicle. The injured subject chose to seek further medical attention on her own.
Investigation Continues Into Queensbury House Fire
A Queensbury house fire remains under investigation. According to WNYT, a two-story single-family home located at 4 Kendrick Road in Queensbury caught fire on Sunday afternoon at around 1:37 p.m. when the neighbor across the street reported it to authorities. The cause of the fire is undetermined and the point of origin is still unknown.
