Warren County Department of Workforce Development has partnered with Crandall Public Library to offer a Computer Skills Workshop for Beginners on Thursday, September 21, starting at 1 p.m!

Area Water Systems Show High Levels Of PFAS

About 7,000 local residents are served by drinking water systems that use source water contaminated by elevated levels of the so-called “forever chemicals” known as PFAS. The water systems testing positive for elevated PFAS levels are: Alpine Estates, Northwood Water Company, Kayadeross Acres, Middle Grove Mobile Park, Whispering Pines Mobile Estates, the Village of South Glens Falls, Loughberry Mobile Home Park, London Square Apartments, Diamond Point Water District, and Colebrook Trailer Court.

Governor Looks To Crack Down On Car Thefts

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced a series of actions to combat the high number of car thefts, particularly of certain Kia and Hyundai model vehicles, in counties across New York State The actions include fast-tracking $50 million for law enforcement technology and equipment, $5 million to enhance youth justice alternatives and diversion programming for teenagers and young adults, and the launch of a public engagement campaign targeting vulnerable car owners.

Fort William Henry Hosts Community Day

Clean Up Lake George Event Sunday

The Lake George Association is hosting its first annual Clean Up Lake George event on Sunday, September 17. Residents and businesses are invited to help clean up trash along the southern shoreline of Lake George. The event will begin at the Village Pier in Shepard Park from 9 a.m. to noon.

South Glens Falls Man Charged With Murder

A South Glens Falls man is now charged with murder in connection with an Albany homicide. 20 year old Jeff pleaded not guilty on Thursday to one count of second-degree murder, and one count of criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the death of Benjamin Rowe back on June 25. Rowe was shot and killed near 503 Hamilton Street in the city of Albany.

Fort Ann Residents Cuffed In Drug Probe

Two Fort Ann residents were arrested in a drug investigation. WNYT reports sheriff’s deputies got a tip about drug sales. That led them to 1276 Farley Road last Friday, where investigators found drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Aaron Arquette, 31, and Debra L. Marciano-Brown, 46, now face several charges. Arquette was released, while Marciano-Brown was held due to past convictions.

Adirondack Balloon Festival Next Week

The Adirondack Balloon Festival’s 50th anniversary edition, set for Wed. Sept. 20 through Sunday, Sept. 24, features a parade of balloon pilots, several new Moonglow events, and a pre-dawn flight of up to 10 balloons. Sun Community News reports it kicks off with a cocktail reception from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20 at the Hiland Country Club in Queensbury.
