The 1755 Battle of Lake George, which confirmed Britain’s title to the lake and surrounding lands, will be commemorated on September 22, 23 & 24 with re-enactments and an encampment at Lake George Battlefield Park. The Lake George Mirror reports throughout the weekend, the Fort William Henry museum will be open from 9:30 am to 5 pm. The Lake George Battlefield Park Visitors Center will be also be open both days, from 9:30 am to 4 pm.

Warren County To Auction Off 31 Properties
Warren County is auctioning off properties at its annual tax foreclosure property auction. On Saturday, Oct. 21, a total of 31 properties will be put on the auction block. All properties included in the action have gone delinquent on taxes and been foreclosed on by the county. The full list, which can be seen on the county website, includes private homes, business spaces, and two properties with waterfront access.
Six Flags Great Escape Holding Blood Drive
The Six Flags Great Escape Lodge is hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive and offering up a pretty sweet Halloween treat to donors. Those who donate blood, from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. inside the Great Escape Lodge Mohican Ballroom, will receive a free ticket to the park to enjoy Oktoberfest or Fright Fest. 17 Year Old Charged As Adult In Fort Ann Shooting
A 17-year-old is being charged as an adult in a fatal shooting in the village of Fort Ann. The shooting took place in August on Charles Street. WTEN reports a judge determined the teen should be charged as an adult in criminal court based on witness accounts of the incident. Rycky Stark, Jr., 14, died in the shooting.
Greater Glens Falls Transit Now Part Of CDTA
The public bus system in and around Glens Falls is now part of the Capital District Transportation Authority. WNYT reports back in May of 2022, Greater Glens Falls Transit and CDTA wanted to merge. Gov. Kathy Hochul signed legislation this week that makes it a done deal. Proponents said it will offer more options for bus riders, including better transportation to airports, train stations and special events.
Siena Poll Gauges Cost Of Living, Quality Of Life In NY
A new poll is out on top issues for New Yorkers. The Siena College Research Institute Poll finds the cost of living in New York is the biggest issue, reports WNYT. The poll found 57% said the quality of life in the state is getting worse. However, 14% said it’s getting better, and 27% said it’s about the same.
Lake George Man Arrested In Stolen U-Haul Van Case
A Lake George man was arrested recently after being charged with possessing stolen property and resisting arrest. Sun Community News reports authorities spotted a U-Haul van reported stolen, allegedly being driven by Peter M. Morales of Sherill Street in Lake George. When the officer approached Morales, he reportedly took off, headed south on Route 9N toward Lake Luzerne. Authorities initially lost track of the vehicle but found it later, unoccupied, on Dunkley Road in Lake Luzerne. Morales was located a week later at a residence on Dunkley Road, and taken into custody without incident.
Ramp Considered For Front Of Old County Courthouse In Lake George
The Lake George town board is consideraing a proposal to construct a ramp at the front entrance of Lake George’s historic Old Warren County Courthouse, which now houses the Lake George Historical Association’s museum. Sun Community News reports the ramp would provide appropriate ADA-compliant access for people with mobility impairments but constructing a ramp for the old courthouse might conflict with its historical status by altering its facade.
Lake George Looks At Ending Planning Board, Zoning Board Of Appeals Stipends
The Lake George town board has expressed support for the idea of eliminating the $45-per-meeting pay for members of the town Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals. Sun Community News reports members of the two boards were asked if it was okay to eliminate their attendance stipends, and no one opposed the idea. He said that dealing with the paperwork for such payments cost the town more than the total of the stipends paid.
Glens Falls Man Charged With Sexual Contact With Children
A Glens Falls man was arrested for allegedly inappropriately touching kids. State Police want to know if there are more victims.
According to WNYT, 35 year old Joshua Tessier was arrested in August after police got a tip over the spring that he allegedly had sexual contact with two kids in Queensbury in 2020. The arrest was just announced.
