Glens Falls Man Arrested For DWI

A 19-year-old Glens Falls man was arrested Sunday for allegedly driving drunk with another teen in the vehicle. WNYT reports
Joseph M. Erwin was stopped by a Warren County Sheriff’s deputy at around 10:30 p.m. after he committed traffic violations. A breath test revealed a blood alcohol level of .08%. Erwin was charged with felony DWI.

Sheriffs Office Investigates Deadly Motorcycle Crash

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an Oct. 19 motorcycle crash that claimed the life of a man. On Thursday, Oct. 19, the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting two motorcycles involved in a crash with one person ‘in full arrest’ on Route 418 near Planty Drive. When deputies and first responders arrived at the 9:45 p.m. accident, they determined only one motorcycle was involved. The driver, Andrew McTague, 44, was the lone occupant and pronounced deceased at the accident site.

Fall Clean Up In Lake George

Lake George is underway with a “Fall Clean Up” by the Highway Department. Leaves don’t have to be bagged, however, if bagged, a paper biodegradable bag must be used. Leaf piles that contain stones and other debris will NOT be picked up. Brush must be tied in bundles so that one man can pick them up and no longer than eight foot in length and no greater than 5 inches wide. NO pick up of solid refuse such as refrigerators, stoves, etc.

Queensbury Woman Charged With DWI

A Queensbury woman has been arrested after police said she drove with a blood alcohol level over three times the legal limit.
WNYT reports South Glens Falls Police spotted 31-year-old Georgia R. Morrill on Main Street on Oct. 17 at about 9:40 p.m. going 45 mph in a 30 mph zone. She was pulled over and arrested and a test revealed her blood alcohol concentration to be 0.28%. The legal limit is 0.08%.

Man Accused Of Killing Kaylin Gillis Can’t Use Mental Disorder Defense

The man accused of shooting and killing Kaylin Gillis of Schuylerville as she rode in a car that mistakenly drove up his driveway has no mental disorder, a judge ruled on Monday. WNYT reports Judge Adam Michelini said that attorneys for Kevin Monahan cannot use extreme emotional disturbance as a defense for the murder of Gillis outside his Hebron home on April 15.

Governor Kathy Hochul has announced the launch of a new telephone hotline and online form allowing New Yorkers to report hate and bias incidents directly to the Division of Human Rights’ Hate and Bias Prevention Unit. The dedicated incident reporting hotline is at 844-NO-2-HATE.

Whitehall Judget Putorti Removed From Office

The New York State Court of Appeals accepted the determination of the Commission on Judicial Conduct and removed Whitehall Town and Village Court Justice Robert J. Putorti from office, effective immediately. WRGB reports
Judge Putorti, a Justice of the Whitehall Town Court since 2014, was removed for “unjustifiably pointing a loaded handgun at a defendant in court, then repeatedly bragging about it publicly, exaggerating the facts and characterizing the matter in racial terms.”
