The trial for the man accused of shooting and killing Kaylin Gillis in his driveway last April is scheduled for Jan. 8, reports WNYT. Kevin Monahan is charged with second-degree murder in the death of the 20-year-old Schuylerville woman on April 15. She was a passenger in a vehicle that had gotten lost on the way to a friend’s house and turned around in Monahan’s driveway in Hebron.

Invasive Species Bill Signed Into Law
Legislation sponsored by Sen. Dan Stec (R,C-Queensbury) and Assemblymember Carrie Woerner (D-Round Lake) to address and better combat aquatic invasive species statewide has been signed into law by Gov. Hochul. Senate bill S5836/Assembly bill A5801 enables town boards to further address and combat invasive aquatic invertebrate species, as they are currently only able to address invasive plants under state law.

Man Admits Breaking Into Kingsbury Gun Shop
A Washington County man has admitted to stealing 31 semiautomatic guns from Calamity Jane’s Firearms and Fine Shoes in Kingsbury a year ago. 48 year old Martin Taft of Salem, pleaded guilty in federal court on Thursday to one weapons charge and one count charge related to drug offenses.
Court Appearance For Motorcyclist Involved In Deadly Crash
The man who admitted to driving his motorcycle under the influence of drugs and alcohol and crashing into the Warren County Bikeway, will have to wait until at least January to find out if he will spend the rest of his life in prison. WNYT reports
Anthonia Futia was in Warren County Court on Thursday for a hearing on whether he will be designated as a persistent felony offender because of prior convictions on his record. If the judge determines he is a persistent offender, he faces a sentence of 12 ½ to 25 years in prison.
UPDATE: Manhunt In Washington County Over, Suspect Turns Himself In
The hours long manhunt in the town of Salem has come to an end. WRGB reports the suspect, Jeffrey Dickinson, 35, is in custody after calling 911 to turn himself late Wednesday night. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office announced the update in a social media post time stamped 11:59 p.m. Dickinson was located in the area of Blind Buck Road near Buck Ridge Way in Salem.
Search On For ‘Armed And Dangerous’ Man In Washington County
Multiple police agencies are searching for a man considered to be armed and dangerous in the Salem area. Police are looking for Jeffrey Dickinson. WTEN reports the search began around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. Police said Dickinson is wanted on a felony warrant, and he fled when confronted by law enforcement. Dickinson was last seen in a wooded area near Blind Buck Road in Salem.
Attorneys Say Monahan Did Not Intend To Fire Fatal Shot
The attorneys for the man charged with murder in the shooting of Kaylin Gillis plan to argue that their client didn’t intend to fire the fatal shot. Arthur Frost, Kevin Monahan’s lead attorney, told WNYT that the first shot Monahan fired was a warning shot. Frost said Monahan was not planning to pull the trigger a second time but it was a slip of his finger.
