As many as 50,000 automotive enthusiasts are expected to descend on Lake George Village between Thursday, Sept. 5 and Sunday, Sept. 8 for the Adirondack Nationals car show. Sun Community News reports the show will feature customized hot rods, rare antique automobiles, exotic foreign sports cars, and refurbished powerful “muscle cars” as well as “rat rods.”

Monahan To File Appeal To Conviction In Gillis Shooting Death
Kevin Monahan intends to file an appeal in his criminal conviction for the shooting death of Kaylin Gillis at his Washington County home last year, according to court records. WRGB reports a notice of appeal was filed last week with the New York State Supreme Court. An attorney for Monahan confirmed that the appeal is coming.
Horse Dies From EEE In Washington County
A horse in Washington County has died from Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) and the New York State Agriculture Department is urging horse owners to vaccinate. WTEN reports Washington County officials confirm it is the only identified case, there. However, there have been cases where the virus has been detected in nine other New York counties.
Queensbury School District Adds Two Students To Board
The Queensbury School District is adding students to its board of education. WNYT reports Student Senate President Mark Huffaker will sit on the board and board committees, but will not vote and won’t attend executive sessions. Student Senate Vice President Andrew Murray will participate in board meetings when Huffaker is unavailable.
VFW Post In Chester Shuts Down
Prominent in northern Warren County since World War II, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Glendale Post 5513, based in the town of Chester, has ceased to exist. Recently, the post’s remaining members met with a VFW District official and formally shut down the post, following a national trend of VFW post closures. Sun Community News reports past post commander Bill Linton said they simply don’t have the membership anymore to sustain the post.
Washington County Sheriff’s Office Taking Part In STOP-DWI Program
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with other local law enforcement agencies, is actively participating in a coordinated initiative with the STOP-DWI program to heighten awareness about the dangers of impaired driving. As Labor Day approaches Washington County is reinforcing its commitment to safety through the STOP-DWI High Visibility Engagement Campaign. This campaign is designed to significantly decrease incidents of impaired driving.
Summer EBT Program Remains Available For Families In Need
Warren County officials advise ummer is quickly drawing to a close, but New York’s new Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) program is still available to help families buy food for their school-aged children during the summer. Families will get $120 in food benefits for each eligible child, into October.
Lake George Arts Project celebrates 40 years of Jazz at the Lake festival
The Lake George Arts project is celebrating 40 years of Jazz at the Lake music festival. The free, three-day festival runs from September 13 to 15. Performances take place at Shepard Park and various locations throughout Lake George. The festival kicks off with Cocktails & Jazz with the Carlos Jimenez Jazz Quartet on September 12 at 6 p.m, by invitation only.
Clifton park man in critical condition after crash into dump truck
A Clifton Park man is in critical condition after crashing into a dump truck on Route 146 Thursday morning.. C.J. Purcell, 29, was traveling west on Route 146, when he struck a 2022 Nissan driven by Cindy A. Breslin, 57, also of Clifton Park. Purcell’s car veered into the eastbound lane and collided with a 2022 Mack dump truck. The other drivers were not injured. The crash is under investigation.
Queens man charged with second degree rape
A Queens man is charged with second-degree rape. Carlos Cabello Gonzalez, 33, was arrested on Wednesday. State police say around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, they received a report of the missing 13-year-old. An investigation led police to Gonzalez with the child in Granville. Gonzalez was arrested and taken to State Police for processing, then to the Washington County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.
