With heavy snowfall Tuesday and subfreezing temperatures later this week, the tourism industry in Lake George is banking on people coming outside to take advantage of winter attractions. WRGB reports chamber officials say a sufficiently frozen lake, which it’s not quite yet, means icy activities at their upcoming Winter Carnival won’t be relegated to land. Judge Denies Mistrial Motion For Monahan
The judge on Tuesday denied a motion for a mistrial by the attorney representing the man accused of shooting and killing a woman in his driveway last April. WNYT reports at issue was body camera footage played when police were approaching Kevin Monahan at his home. He’s charged with second-degree murder for shooting and killing Kaylin Gillis, 20, when a car she was riding in accidentally turned up his driveway .
Warren County Offers Tool To Fight Fraud
Financial fraud is a growing problem, and fraud that involves theft of real property through filing of false documents is an unfortunate part of that trend.
The Warren County Clerk’s Office has a new tool that helps protect those who own property in Warren County from documents such as deeds or mortgages filed in their name, a FRAUD ALERT program.
With FRAUD ALERT, individuals can sign up to receive alerts whenever a document, such as a deed or mortgage, is recorded under their name.
Monday Fire In Hudson Falls
Part of Main Street in Hudson Falls was closed due to a fire Monday at 337 Main St. The fire was brought under control by responding fire crews, but investigators are still looking into what caused it.
Lake George Seeks Planning And Zoning Staff Member
The Town of Lake George is actively seeking a new staff member to join the Planning and Zoning Office as a “Zoning Technician”. The job is a part time position that would primarily focus on assisting the office with zoning matters, including but not limited to plan and permit review, assisting with zoning inquiries, writing compliance letters and other general office duties related to Zoning. Those wishing to be considered for the position should submit an application for employment along with a resume and any other supporting documentation to the Town Clerk’s office and the Planning and Zoning Office
Lake George Winter Carnival Details
Lake George Winter Carnival is returning for 2024. The 62nd annual Carnival takes place every Saturday and Sunday in February. WTEN reports from outhouse races to cook-offs to polar plunges, there are a variety of activities for everyone. On January 26, organizers are hosting a “ Puttin’ on the Ritz ” Fundraising Gala at The Carriage House in Fort William Henry to support the Winter Carnival.

Man Arrested In Burglary Case
A parolee from Plattsburgh was arrested in connection to a burglary in Queensbury on March 9, 2022. The Warren County Sheriff’s Office located signs of forced entry and reported items were stolen, including firearms. WTEN reports during the investigation, DNA was collected from the scene and analyzed. Analysis linked Eric J. Warren, 41, to the crime.
