Help For Warren County Families In Need

Warren County Department of Social Services announced a new collaboration recently with Justice For Orphans and CarePortal to help local families in need. This program coordinates assistance from volunteer community groups and church groups to help families that DSS works with, at no cost to taxpayers. 31 Warren County families have been helped in 3 months.

Work Continues On County Route 11 In Bolton

County Route 11 in Bolton remains closed, but contractors are making good progress replacing two storm-damaged culverts on the road, also known as Riverbank Road,, with hopes for a reopening of at least a portion of the road either late next week or early the week after. Contractors from Peckham Road Corp. are working on the culvert on the west end of the detour, while Kubricky Construction Corp. is handling the culvert on the east end.

Blood Drive Next Week At Aviation Mall

Aviation Mall will be hosting a community blood drive with the American Red Cross on Monday, Feb. 12 from noon to 5 p.m. across from Regal Cinema. Donors of all blood types – particularly type O blood donors, the most needed blood group by hospitals – and platelet donors are needed daily to meet demand. A sufficient blood supply is critical to being able to provide timely care for all patients in need of lifesaving blood transfusions.

Queensbury Man Guilty Of Attempted Murder

A Queensbury man was found guilty for his role in an attempted murder case. WTEN reports 42 year old Christian Maldonado was found guilty of attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon for firing a gun at the victim in April 2023 in the area of Lark and Orange Streets in the city of Albany. Maldonado will be sentenced in April and faces up to 25 years to life in prison.

Authorities Will Be Looking For Impaired Drivers Super Bowl Weekend In Warren County

Birthday Wishes For Lake George WWII Vet

The Capital Region is coming together to share appreciation for a Lake George World War II veteran. WNYT reports
Ray Barber asked for birthday cards from people to help him celebrate his 99th birthday on Dec. 19.
Barber received more than 400 cards from people all throughout the area, he said.

Jury Makes Quick Work Of Threats Case In Glens Falls

It took a jury just twenty minutes to convict 35 year old Jesse Bedell of Glens Falls with transmitting a threat by interstate communication. WTEN reports Bedell had applied to work at Medline Industries’ NAMIC Division in Glens Falls. Bedell failed to disclose a prior criminal conviction, and the employment offer was withdrawn on January 9, 2020.

Lake Luzerne Man Pleads Guilty In Child Assault

Robert Rivers, 36, of Lake Luzerne, pleaded guilty to reckless assault of a child. Rivers is expected to receive a sentence of three and a half years in state prison. WTEN reports the infant arrived at the Glens Falls Hospital on October 31 with life-threatening injuries that were deemed suspicious. Investigations determined that Rivers reportedly shook the infant, resulting in a serious head injury.

Police Cuff Suspect In Queensbury Hit And Run

Police have made an arrest in connection with a hit-and-run collision that killed a Queensbury man late last year.
Warren County Sheriff’s investigators have charged Peter Northup Jr., 33, of Hudson Falls with leaving the scene of the incident that took the life of Shane Winchell, reports WNYT.

Man Sentenced In Deadly Lake George Bike Path Crash

The man who admitted to crashing a motorcycle into a family walking on the Warren County Bike Trail and killing two people was sentenced on Tuesday to 15 years to life in prison. WNYT reports
Anthony Futia of Albany was speeding and driving drunk and under the influence of drugs, when he lost control of his motorcycle on the bike path in Lake George on June 12, 2022.
