Accused Child Rapist Found Dead In Washington County Jail Cell

A Washington County man who was accused of repeatedly raping a child under the age of 13 was found dead in his cell at Washington County Jail Thursday morning, reports WNYT.
32 year old Nickalas Connor was arrested back in October and charged with two counts of predatory sexual assault against a child – the state’s most serious sexual assault charge. It carried a sentence of 25 years to life. Police said he knew the child.

Local Food Pantry Receives Donation

St. Mary’s Food Pantry received a $5,000 donation from Dunkin’ Franchisee Tom Burke III of the Burke Companies and the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation in partnership with the Adirondack Thunder Thursday. St. Mary’s Food Pantry is a nonprofit organization that serves Glens Falls and Queensbury, providing food and other essential items to families in need. The Joy in Childhood Foundation is a nonprofit powered by Dunkin’ that provides grant opportunities to local communities around the U.S.

Drive Thru Food Collection Event Saturday In Queensbury

Queensbury Union Free School District will host a drive-thru food collect event this Saturday, March 23 to supply the district “Snack Pack Program.” Donations will also be collected. It runs 9am to noon at the district offices behind Queensbury Elementary School. The district’s Snack Pack program currently feeds 248 students each week.

Spring Clean Up In Lake George

There will be a “Spring Clean-Up” pickup by the Lake George Highway Department running April 15th to May 20th. Leaves do NOT have to be bagged but must be free of stones, rocks and debris. Brush must be tied in bundles so that one man can handle them and must be no longer than 8 feet and no more than 5 inches in diameter. There will be NO pick up of solid refuse such as refrigerators, stoves, etc.

Some Warren County Schools Closing For Total Solar Eclipse

A total solar eclipse will be passing over North America on April 8 between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. In preparation for the event, many schools in the Capital Region have announced they will be closing that day, having early dismissal, and/or canceling after-school activities. In Warren County, the Hadley-Luzerne Central School District will use an emergency day and the North Warren Central School District will use a snow day.

Ranger Rescue In Keene

Recently in Keene, Ray Brook Dispatch received a call from the daughter of a 57-year-old overdue hiker. The hiker’s last known location was downhill from Grace Peak, with no contact for nearly 3.5 hours. Forest Rangers located the subject’s vehicle at the Round Pond trailhead. Rangers then hiked to the subject’s last known location and found her along the north fork of the river. Rangers helped the hiker cross the stream and return to the trailhead.

Warren County Seeks Summer Hires

Warren County is looking for young people who need a summer job and is now accepting applications from people between 14 and 20 years old. They’ll be assigned to work around the county for eight weeks starting in late June.
Those enrolled in the program will earn $15 an hour. The program is funded by federal grants in order to teach skills that can be used in the workforce

Female Inmate Accused Of Assault At Washington County Lock Up

A Granville woman is accused of assaulting another inmate at Washington County Jail. WNYT reports 33 year old Nicole M. Rosado was charged with second-degree assault after an investigation. She was arraigned in Washington County Centralized Arraignment Court and sent back to Washington County Jail, where she is being held on unrelated charges.

Acts For Lake George’s Rock The Doc Music Festival Announced

The Rock the Dock Music Festival is returning to Lake George on Saturday, July 13. It’s only March, but organizers have announced the musical lineup for the event. Among the acts, Lotus, Wild Adriatic, Formula 5 and Neon Avenue.
Rock the Dock takes place at the Lake George Steamboat Company’s pier at 57 Beach Road. The doors open at 3:30 p.m. Food and art vendors will also be there.

Route 11 In Bolton Reopened

Warren County officials announced that County Route 11 in Bolton has reopened to traffic. Also known as Riverbank Road, the roadway has been closed for repairs since January. WTEN reports the need for repairs stemmed from heavy rain storms the area experienced at the end of December. Work concluded on March 15 and included the replacement of two culverts, guiderail renovations and repaving the road.
