Lake George woman Marcy Reisinger created Hearts that Hear, an organization empowering children with disabilities through education, advocacy and community. Queensbury Students Help Bring Solar Power To Puerto Rico
A group of student volunteers from Queensbury embarked on the trip of a lifetime to bring solar energy to people in Puerto Rico hit hard by storms. Surrounded by mountains in a remote region of Puerto Rico, a group of 17-year-olds worked under the heat and humidity to lift fragile solar panels onto the roof of a nursing home. WTEN reports the student-run group is focused on harnessing the power of the sun partnering with Let’s Share the Sun Foundation.
$54 Million Capital Project Approved For HFCSD
Voters in the Hudson Falls Central School District last week approved a $54 million capital project to upgrade its facilities. WNYT reports the project includes upgrades to improve safety and security, improve accessibility in the buildings and make repairs to areas open to students and the community. The vote on March 28 was 258 in favor to 196 in opposition.
Woman Charged With Assault, Menacing In Queensbury
A Johnstown woman was arrested after allegedly assaulting and menacing a victim, then fleeing police and crashing after a brief pursuit. Leslie Stone, 35, faces several charges. Authorities responded to a home in Briwood Circle in Queensbury for reports of a domestic dispute. Deputies say an investigation found that Stone assaulted a victim and later menaced them with a knife before leaving. She was caught after fleeing the scene.
Two More Job Fairs Scheduled
Warren County Department of Workforce Development has scheduled two more job fairs in the coming weeks — one at Glens Falls City Schools (April 11)and Lake George CSD (April 17), and there is still room for a few more businesses to take part. The Glens Falls event will be open to students only, while the Lake George event will be open to students and the general public.
State Officials Warn About Home Improvement Scams
The New York Department of State’s Division of Consumer Protection has issued a warning about home improvement scams. Sun Community News reports those scams have consistently ranked among New Yorkers’ top five consumer complaints. With the arrival of spring, many New Yorkers consider making improvements around their homes, however, contractor fraud and home improvement scams can cost homeowners thousands of dollars and leave them with poor workmanship or unfinished projects.
Warren County Considers Warren Museum Investment
Warren County may allocate as much as $1 million for a Joseph B. Warren Museum to be completed in time for the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution. $800,000 of this investment will be drawn from occupancy tax. The Post Star reports the project’s initial concept plan was estimated at $600,000, but rising costs to labor and materials, as well as a costly asbestos removal inflated the price.

Warren County voters are able to take advantage of Early Voting for the upcoming Presidential Primary through Saturday, March 30. Early Voting will be held at Warren County Municipal Center and Glens Falls City Hall.
