Lake George Considers Parking Lot For South Canada Street

The Village of Lake George has considered the creation of a parking lot to replace the blighted piece of land on South Canada Street . The project would be a partnership between the village and property owner, Mohammad Tariq. The Post Star reports the village board outlined several pros to the development of a parking lot including additional revenue for the village, an improvement to the South Canada streetscape, and to fulfill the need for downtown parking.

Marathon Honors Kaylin Gillis

Hundreds of runners raced from New Scotland to Albany during the Helderberg to Hudson half marathon on Saturday. Some runners raced for a cause. WNYT reports Flags4Fallen, a running community that carries American flags across the finish lines of races to honor fallen Americans, on Saturday honored Kaylin Gillis, of Schuylerville, who was shot and killed after a car she was in accidentally drove up the wrong driveway in Washington County.

GEM Fest In Glens Falls Goes On Hiatus

The Glens Falls Entertainment and Music Festival will be going on an indefinite hiatus, according to a statement posted on social media by the festival’s organizers. WTEN reports, known as GEM Fest, the yearly event hosts dozens of musical performances across multiple stages, as well as numerous regional artists and vendors.

New Mascot Approved In Cambridge CSD

The Cambridge Central School District School Board voted Thursday night on the district’s new mascot. The decision to becomes the Tigers was passed unanimously with a vote of 5-0, reports WTEN. The district will develop a new logo by the start of the next school year.

Fifth Victim Comes Forward In Inappropriate Touching Case

A fifth victim has come forward claiming that a Queensbury man inappropriately touched her while working at a massage parlor. According to WNYT, 54 year old Tieli Wang is facing five total counts of sexual abuse. He initially was arrested last month after troopers received a complaint on March 28 alleging that Wang had forcibly touched the victim when she had received a massage at Lily Spa in Queensbury.

Glens Falls Man Faces Attempted Murder, Assault Charges

A Glens Falls man is charged with attempted murder in connection with a January shooting. WNYT reports 38 year old
Paris J. Pettiford is accused of shooting a man on Jan. 24 just after 6 p.m. in the area of North Pearl Street and Lawrence Street. The victim was transported to Glens Falls Hospital and later to Albany Medical Center. A Warren County grand jury indicted Pettiford on charges of attempted murder, two counts of assault, and a misdemeanor drug possession charge.

Person Ticketed After Brush Burn Spreads In Cambridge

DEC was called out for assistance for a fire on Kenyon Road on April 1 in Cambridge. The brush burn escaped containment and spread to an nearby building. According to WNYT, the Easton Fire Department was on scene and assisted DEC forest rangers in putting out the fire. The person who started the fire was issued a ticket for leaving the burn unattended.

Crocitto Named Acting Town Supervisor In Lake George

The town of Lake George has a new acting supervisor following the recent death of Town Supervisor Dennis Dickinson, who died after a long illness. Deputy Supervisor Vinnie Crocitto now has the job of acting supervisor. Crocitto, who owns hotels in Lake George, has been deputy supervisor for several years. His term on the board expires at the end of 2025.
