Warren County Health Services reported 58 new Warren County resident COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday morning, along with 27 recoveries. Ten (10) Warren County residents are hospitalized, with four (4) additional hospitalizations Tuesday. All 10 are moderately ill, and three (3) others are moderately ill outside the hospital as well.
Health Services staff are monitoring 469 active COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday, the highest county total for the pandemic. 456 of the cases involve mild illness.

Up To Date Albany County COVID Numbers
Three new deaths in Albany County from COVID-19, including a man in his 70s, a woman in her 80s, and a woman more than 100 years old. The death toll for the county stands at 259 confirmed since tracking of the outbreak began last March. There were also 217 new positive cases announced Wednesday and the county now has 1,987 active cases. There were also 15 new hospitalizations, bringing that total to 151.
Ranger Rescue In Washington County
A ranger rescue in the Town of Dresden On Jan. 9 at 5:16 p.m., DEC’s Ray Brook Dispatch received a call from a 28-year-old hiker from Ballston Spa who became disoriented and lost the trail while hiking Erebus Mountain. Three Forest Rangers responded and at 9:30 p.m., Rangers located the lost hiker and proceeded to warm her and assess her injuries. The hiker was safely escorted down to the boat for transport back to the maintenance center and given a courtesy ride back to her vehicle at the trailhead. Rangers were cleared of the scene and back in service at 10:55 p.m.
Malta Zoning Board Member Resigns After US Capitol Photo Circulates
A member of Malta’s zoning board resigned after she was seen in photos taken at the U.S. Capitol on the day extremists, conspiracy theorists and supporters of the president stormed it. Sharon Pineo resigned from the Malta Zoning Board of Appeals on Monday in a letter sent to the town supervisor, the Times Union reported. In one photo taken near the Capitol, Pineo is seen sitting on the ground in a green jacket surrounded by police officers who are holding her arms, the newspaper reported. In a second photo, officers walk beside her as her arms are handcuffed behind her back.
Latest Warren County COVID Numbers
Warren County is reporting the county has lost two more Warren County residents to COVID-19 as of Tuesday. One was in their early 60s, another in their 90s. One had been hospitalized and the other fought their illness at home.
Warren County Health Services reported 64 new Warren County resident COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday morning, along with 17 recoveries.
Six (6) Warren County residents are hospitalized, in light of one (1) new admission and one (1) fatality. All 6 are moderately ill.
Health Services staff are monitoring 438 active COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday. 432 of the cases involve mild illness.
Partnership Announced To Handle Hospital Overflow
Albany County has announced a new partnership with St. Peter’s Health Partners to have a new temporary hospital overflow area within the county. The Saratogian reports there were 15 new hospitalizations overnight Monday into Tuesday, and there are 155 county residents currently hospitalized from the virus – a net increase of seven. The separate facility will soon serve as temporary hospital overflow for non-infectious COVID patients that still require care, but do not need hospital treatment.
Stefanik Removed From Harvard Advisory Committee
North County U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik’s alma mater, Harvard University, removed her from its Institute of Politics’ Senior Advisory Committee Tuesday, saying her false allegations of voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election “have no basis in fact.”
Stefanik, part of the Harvard undergraduate Class of 2006, responded Tuesday that the college was “bowing to the far-left.” In the past she has used the term “far-left” to include a wide range of Democrats and progressives, including President-elect Joe Biden. Douglas Elmendorf, dean of Harvard’s public policy Kennedy School, said in a letter to committee members that he first asked Stefanik to step down from the committee. When she declined, he removed her.
Woman Cuffed In Queensbury For DWI
State Police in Queensbury arrested 56-year-old Robin Zaia of Clinton, Ma., for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated. State Police were called to a two-car collision on I-87 in Queensbury, shortly after 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. Investigation at the scene determined that Zaia had been traveling north on the interstate when she struck another northbound vehicle from behind. A female passenger in the second vehicle was transported to Glens Falls Hospital for evaluation. Police say she failed field sobriety tests.

Albany County health officials confirming four new deaths attributed to COVID-19 on Monday. The deaths involved a woman in her 50s, two women in their 80s, and a woman in her 90s. The county has seen 254 recorded deaths since tracking of the pandemic began last March. There were also 216 new positive cases. Currently, there are 1,997 active cases in the county, and 3,119 people under mandatory quarantine. 265 people were cleared for recovery and release.
