Jeeps To Invade 1,000 Acres Ranch

Hundreds of Jeep enthusiasts are set to come to the area in June as part of the first annual Adirondack Jeep Invasion, set for June 18-20. They’ll be rolling into 1,000 Acres Ranch in Stony Creek, west of Lake George. About 150 are registered as of this point and the show includes trail rides, vendor spaces, an obstacle course and a “downtown invasion,” where enthusiasts will ride to Charles R. Wood Park for a “show and shine” competition.

Airport Money Headed To The Area

Governor Cuomo has announced $250 million is available to transform and modernize airports in Upstate New York and foster regional economic development. This includes $230 million through a new competition for projects that promote and accelerate improvements at upstate commercial passenger service airports. Another $20 million will be allocated through the Governor’s Aviation Capital Grant Program to support safety, infrastructure, and economic development projects at smaller airports, like Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport in Queensbury.

Westbrook Road Renamed Elizabeth Little Boulevard

Westbrook Road in Lake George has been renamed Elizabeth Little Boulevard, in honor of retired State Senator Betty Little. During her 34 years of public service, Little was a major ally to the area and many supporters say it’s only fitting that her name be associated with the main route to Lake George.

Return Of The Lake George Farmers Market

The Lake George farmers market will return to Shepard Park next week with more than 18 vendors, selling everything from fresh produce and handcrafted goods to various pieces of art. According to the Post Star, the market kicks off May 26th.
Parking is available directly in front of the market, which will take place rain or shine. The market will take place every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Lake George farmers market will return to Shepard Park next week with more than 18 vendors, selling everything from fresh produce and handcrafted goods to various pieces of art. According to the Post Star, the market kicks off May 26th.
Parking is available directly in front of the market, which will take place rain or shine. The market will take place every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Small Wildfire In Warren County Recently

In Horicon, DEC’s Ray Brook Dispatch was contacted by Warren County 911 requesting Forest Ranger assistance for a fire off Shaw Hill Road recently. Forest Rangers worked with the responding volunteer fire departments to suppress and control the fire. After approximately four acres burned, the fire was placed in patrol status and is currently being monitored daily by Forest Rangers.

Lake George Voters Approve Schools Budget, Bus Proposition

In Lake George, voters Tuesday approved the 2021-2022 school budget. The bus proposition was also approved. Both votes were essentially the same with 572 yes votes, 104 no votes and one voided vote to approve the budget and 572 yes votes, 104 no votes and two voided votes on the bus proposition according to unofficial results.

Board Of Education Members Chosen By Voters

As part of Tuesday voting in Lake George, voters gave Board of Education candidates the following votes:
Steven Johnson – 285, Tricia Connor Biles – 375, Katie Bruening – 369, Ellen Reinhold – 306 and Write-In – 2.
Tricia Connor Biles and Katie Bruening were declared elected to the Board of Education of the Lake George Central School District for the terms July 1, 2021 – June 30, 2024.

Work Continues On Warren County Municipal Center

Work is progressing on renovations at the Warren County Court wing of Warren County Municipal Center. Judge chambers and the court clerk’s office are expected to be completed in the coming weeks, with staff moving into their renovated offices.
The next phase will be reconstruction in the District Attorney’s Office wing of the building, with work expected to be done during the fall.

Stewart’s To Allow Vaccinated Customers To Go Mask Free

Stewart’s President Gary Dake tweeted Tuesday that vaccinated customers would be able to shop mask-free starting May 19.Barring any last minute regulatory changes, StewartsShops will allow vaccinated customers to shop mask-free effective Wednesday, May 19. Our Partners will remain masked until next Monday the 24th, and until they have shown proof of vaccination.
