Warrensburg Central School District Names New Superintendent

The Warrensburg Central School District names its new superintendent and the board of education didn’t have to go outside the district to find their new leader. Current Warrensburg Elementary School Principal Amy Langworthy to replace outgoing superintendent John Goralski who is retiring in January. Langworthy has been at the elementary school for a decade-and-a-half.

Great Escape Looking For Employees

Great Escape is looking for workers for its upcoming Fright Fest. The Post Star reports anyone who joins the theme park’s staff is now eligible to earn $16.50 an hour through a bonus incentive being offered through Labor Day. The job fairs will take place at the amusement park’s Human Resources Building, Tuesdays through Sept. 21 from 3 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays through Sept. 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Warren County Seeks Ethics Board Members

The Warren County Board of Supervisors is looking for new members interested in joining the county’s ethics board. WTEN reports members are being sought as the county pushes re-establishment of the board as an important part of county operations. The board consists of three members, including a county officer, an appointed officer or employee from within the county, and a member of the general public.

Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance Sponsoring History Program

On Thursday, August 5, at 7 PM, the Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance will sponsor a program on Warren County’s namesake entitled “The Life and Legacy of Dr. Joseph Warren” at the Fort William Henry Hotel Conference Center.
Christian Di Spigna, the country‘s leading authority on Dr. Warren and author of Founding Martyr: The Life and Death of Dr. Joseph Warren, the American Revolution’s Lost Hero will present the lecture which is free and open to the public.

Warren County Experiencing ‘Substantial’ COVID Spread

Warren County Health Services reported 10 additional COVID-19 cases Tuesday along with six (6) additional recoveries.
Warren County Health Services is monitoring 65 active COVID cases as of Tuesday, 61 of them suffering from mild illness. Three (3) are hospitalized, one (1) in critical condition and two (2) in moderate condition. One (1) outside of the hospital is moderately ill. Warren County is now among 23 New York counties where COVID spread is considered “substantial” per U.S. CDC estimates.

Is COVID Affecting Lake George Tourism?

Lake George tourism is booming according to business owners and Warren County officials.
This as the county is seeing a slight uptick in COVID-19 cases. Despite staff shortages, businesses say that they’ve had a successful summer so far and they’re airing on the side of caution when it comes to the slight COVID uptick, urging customers who are not vaccinated to wear a mask. Officials attribute the uptick to 15 cases that came about as a result of a church gathering in an adjacent county recently.

Investigation Continues Into Boy’s Drowning

State Police in Queensbury responded to a report of a drowning that occurred on the Schroon River in Warrensburg over the weekend. Police say 15-year-old Owen Harrington of Warrensburg, was tubing on the Schroon River when he became dislodged from his tube after striking a downed tree in the waterway. Harrington became submerged in the water during an attempt to get him to shore. Harrington was transported to Glen Falls Hospital where he was declared deceased.

Pot Sales In Queensbury?

Queensbury Town Board members on Monday again expressed support for retail marijuana sales but noted certain restrictions would apply. The Post Star reports all five board members said they support allowing retail cannabis sales and lounges for on-site consumption. There was little input from the public during a discussion held on the matter.

Hoffman Car Wash Looking To Branch Out In Queensbury

Hoffman Car Wash is planning a second Queensbury location. The Post Star reports the business has an application to build one on the site of the old Adirondack Car Wash site on Route 9. Hoffman already has a site at 265 Quaker Road. The second location would be about 2.5 miles away from the first.
