The ice cream you get at Stewart’s is award winning, according to judges at the 4th annual World Dairy Expo.
Stewart’s Shops had a total of six winners at the competition, two first place winners, a second-place finish, as well as three third place finishes. This year’s competition received over 1,400 submissions from dairy producers across North America including the top spot in the Regular Chocolate Ice Cream category.

Sex Offender Arrested In Warren County
Since April 2021 the Warren County Sex Offender Management Unit has investigated
an incident involving a level 1 registered sex offender failing to abide by the state
requirements. As a result of an investigation, 32 year old Daniel Tucker of Lake Luzerne was arrested
and charged with Felony count of failure to register or verify his address as part of his
requirements after a forcible touching conviction in 2008.
New Hunting Rules In New York
DEC announcing new rules for deer and bear hunting in New York. Rule changes include extending hunting hours and dress code requirements when afield to improve hunter safety, such as establishing a conditional nine-day season for antlerless deer in mid-September, extend the hunting hours for deer and bear to include the full period of ambient light from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset and require anyone hunting big game with a firearm, or accompanying someone hunting big game with a firearm, to wear a solid or patterned fluorescent orange or fluorescent pink hat, vest, or jacket.
President, CEO Of Glens Falls Hospital Stepping Down
Dianne Shugrue, president and CEO of Glens Falls Hospital, will retire at the end of the year. The Post Star reports Shugrue will step down on Dec. 31. She spent the last 14 years at Glens Falls Hospital. Paul Scimeca, senior vice president and chief operating officer, has been named the interim president and CEO.
Greenwich Man Charged Following Domestic Dispute
State Police in Greenwich arrested 36-year-old Egbert Shaw of Salem for Assault , Criminal Contempt, weapons counts and other charges after a domestic dispute. Police say Shaw threw the victim out of the house and then up against a propane tank that was outside of the home. A neighbor heard the commotion and saw Shaw in a physical altercation with the female and attempted to intervene. Shaw struck him with a garden rake multiple times causing injury. The neighbor was treated for a laceration at Glen Falls Hospital.
Head’s Up On Warren County Road Projects
Work has begun on the reconstruction of Call Street in Lake Luzerne, and if you drive that road on weekdays, you should expect some delays. The work is expected to be done this fall.
Three other Warren County DPW road projects are in progress as well, including repaving of County Route 11 in Bolton, reconstruction of Oxbow/Moon Hill Road in Queensbury and replacement of a bridge on 13th Lake Road in Johnsburg

Tiki Tours Expands On Lake George With Second Boat
Tiki Tours celebrated the launch of a new 30-foot, tiki-style pontoon boat with a ribbon-cutting ceremony recently. The Lake George Examiner reports This is the second boat for the company, which began operations in 2016, offering leisurely tours of the lake on floating tiki bar-style boats.
Canada Goose Season Opens Wednesday
DEC has announced that Canada goose hunting season opens Wednesday, Sept. 1, throughout most of the state.
The September goose hunting season is designed to help reduce or stabilize resident Canada goose populations. Resident Canada geese are those that breed in the United States and southern Canada, unlike migratory populations that breed in northern Canada. Typically, resident geese are the birds commonly associated with nuisance situations in urban and rural areas.
Hochul Names Benjamin Lt. Gov.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul introduced state Sen. Brian Benjamin as her choice for lieutenant governor Thursday, as the two promised to work together to address the ongoing pandemic and get COVID-19 relief into New Yorkers’ pockets. Benjamin will be sworn-in “right after Labor Day,” according to the governor’s office.
