Washington County Man Tied To March Burglary

A Washington County man has been charged in connection with a burglary that happened back in March. WNYT reports deputies arrested 39-year-old Nicholas Guilder of Kingsbury. He’s accused of breaking into a home in the town of Hartford and stealing items back on March 29. Guilder is being held at the Washington County Jail.

Heating Help For Those In Need

Governor Kathy Hochul has announced a substantial year-over-year increase in available emergency home heating aid—with more than $90 million in federal funding available to help low- and middle-income New Yorkers avoid having their home heating disconnected or exhausting their heating source amid fuel price increases this winter. They’ll begin accepting applications starting Monday, January 3rd.

Warren County Reports Teen Who Died From COVID Had Comorbidities

Warren County Health Services is correcting the December 16th press release that reported the COVID-19 death of an individual in their late teens. Initially Warren County Health Services was not aware this individual had comorbidities.
Warren County Health Services would like to advise that this individual had conditions that put them at more risk of severe COVID-19 illness.

Warren County Repeals Fireworks Ordinance

Warren County has voted to repeal its laws that allow certain types of fireworks to be sold and used in the county. WNYT reports the Board of Supervisors opted to rescind a 2015 law that allowed the sale of sparklers and fountains during certain times of the year. The law was looked at after the county got complaints from residents about noise issues, particularly the impact on military veterans with PTSD.

Latest Warren County COVID Numbers

Warren County Health Services reported 48 additional COVID-19 cases on Monday, along with 50 recoveries. Health Services is monitoring 440 active COVID cases as of Monday, 425 of them involving mild illness.
Eleven (11) Warren County residents are hospitalized as of Monday. One (1) is critical and the remainder have moderate illness. Four (4) are moderately ill outside of the hospital.
Eight (?? of the 11 who are hospitalized are unvaccinated.

Latest Warren County COVID Update

Warren County Health Services reported 42 additional COVID-19 cases on Sunday, along with 61 recoveries. Health Services is monitoring 442 active COVID cases as of Sunday, 426 of them involving mild illness. Nine (9) of the 12 who are hospitalized are unvaccinated. The majority of new cases in Warren County where the source of infection can be identified continue to stem from family/household exposures, workplace exposures and indoor events/gatherings.

Warren County ARP Meeting Postponed

The Warren County Board of Supervisors American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Advisory Committee scheduled for Tuesday, December 21, has been postponed. The committee’s next meeting will instead be held on January 18, starting at 3 p.m.

Warren County Reports Death Of Teen From COVID

Warren County Health Services reports an additional Warren County resident fatality from COVID-19. A person in their late teens who lived at home before becoming infected died at a hospital. This person had not been vaccinated, and did not have known comorbidities. The Health Services staff reported 48 additional COVID-19 cases on Thursday, along with 29 recoveries. Health Services is monitoring 453 active COVID cases as of Thursday, 435 of them involving mild illness.
Fourteen (14) Warren County residents are hospitalized.

Sheriff’s Office Addresses TikTok Threat

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of a recent social media post on the national social media platform TikTok threatening violence at every school in America on December 17th.
The original TikTok challenge was for students to skip school on December 17th, and at some point the challenge was changed to include the threat of violence towards schools.
These threats are non-specific and we are not seeing any issues at present. The Sheriff’s Office will work closely with all of its school districts and college campuses to ensure safety protocols are in place.

Warren County Statement On Mask Mandate

Warren County has issued a statement in response to the Governor’s mask mandate. It reads, in part, “There is enormous strain on our Warren County Health Department and other county agencies due to demands related to COVID-19 testing, vaccinations, contact tracing and mandated isolations and quarantines, and we consequently lack the resources to effectively enforce New York State’s new mask or vaccine mandate.”
