According to the Post Star, the plan involves tearing down the current ticketing booth at the entrance of the amusement park and constructing a building that would house metal detectors for guests to pass through before gaining entry. It would also include two new bathrooms.

Ice Castles Red Hot In Lake George
The Ice Castles are now open in Charles Wood Park in Lake George. According to WNYT, hundreds of people came to see new exhibit which opened Sunday. The castles are made from hundreds of thousands of icicles that are hand placed by professional artists. Tickets are sold through February right now, and many days are selling out quickly. Organizers recommend people buy tickets in advance here.
Free COVID Rapid Tests Saturday At Aviation Mall
Free COVID-19 rapid tests will be given out this Saturday, Jan. 22, at Aviation Mall. Tests will be available from 10 a.m. to noon, while they last. According to WTEN, the tests will be given out at a Southern Adirondack Independent Living (SAIL) table inside the mall, outside the entrance to Dick’s Sporting Goods. That end of the mall can be easily reached via the doorway next to 99 Restaurant. The tests are being offered in cooperation between SAIL and the state of New York.

Lake George Village offices is accepting unwrapped toys or games for just a couple more days, until January 20th, for use by Ronald McDonald Charities at Krantz Cottage and beyond. Last June the Village became the host site of the charities’ first vacation home in the United States. Toys, games or other items for use in the home will be accepted between 8:30am and 4:00pm. Gov Hochul Gives COVID Update
Governor Kathy Hochul Sunday updated New Yorkers on the state’s progress combating COVID-19, saying we’re seeing the number of cases and hospitalizations continue to decline, but we are not out of the woods yet with this winter surge. She continues to encourage New Yorkers to get vaccinated and boosted and tested. More than 51,000 residents tested positive for COVID 19 on Saturday.

Ranger Rescue In Johnsburg
A ranger rescue in Town of Johnsburg. Dispatch received a call from Warren County requesting Forest Ranger assistance to locate a 30-year-old stranded off trail on Crane Mountain. Forest Rangers responded to the coordinates provided and reached the hiker within the hour. The hiker was in good condition, but had lost the trail with only a phone for light. A Ranger provided the hiker with a headlamp and assisted her back to the trailhead.
