The New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC) has appointed Glens Falls 3rd Ward Supervisor Claudia Braymer to the newly created statewide NYSAC Climate Action Standing Committee.
Supervisor Braymer’s selection was announced February 9th by NYSAC President Martha Saurbrey.

Queensbury STR Rules Under Consideration
In Queensbury, they’re considering changing short term rental rules concerning how long guests can stay and how many vehicles they can have. The Post Star Reports a citizen advisory committee put together last March has a list of recommendations for the town board to consider and possibly add to the existing local law.
Fire & Ice Celebration In Glens Falls Cancelled
Glens Falls Mayor S. William Collins announced Thursday that Friday’s Fire & Ice Celebration in Glens Falls’ Crandall Park has been cancelled due to the affect that unseasonably warm weather conditions and rain has had on ice conditions on Crandall Park Pond as well as forecasted warm weather conditions for Friday.
The Fire & Ice Celebration will continue from 6pm to 9pm on Friday February 18 and 25. Depending on temperatures and ice conditions, the celebration may be extended into March.
Man Arrested In Sunday Fire In Greenwich
Police have arrested a California man in connection with a fire that destroyed a Main Street building in Greenwich Sunday.
Witnesses said they saw a man jump from a second-floor window of the building around the time the midday fire broke out and flee on foot. Police say it’s 48 year old John Fox and he’s charged with arson, criminal mischief and reckelss endangerment.
Zaug Cops Plea In Death Of 7 Week-Old Son
A Glens Falls man admits his role in the death of his 7-week-old son. According to WNYT, now-20 year old Tyler Zaugg says he punched, bit and held the infant underwater in June and July 2021. The child died on July 16. Zaugg pleaded guilty Tuesday in Warren County Court to manslaughter and assault.
Police Find Car Involved In Deadly Hit And Run
A 71-year-old woman has died after a hit and run crash Sunday morning. WRGB reports officers responded to the area of Broad Street in Glens Falls after a woman was struck by a vehicle while she was walking. The victim, later identified as Nina Dever, died at Glens Falls Hospital as a result of her injuries. Police say the vehicle that fled the scene was later located, and police say they know who the suspect is.
Authorities Say Greenwich Building Fire Was Arson
The huge fire that destroyed a building Sunday in Greenwich is the work of an arsonist. WNYT reports one person was sent to the hospital after the fire tore through the building on Main Street, which houses apartments and a few businesses. Eight people were left homeless.
Four Displaced By Fort Edward Fire
Four people were displaced in Fort Edward after a fire broke out at their Route 196 home on Saturday night. One adult and three teenagers, ranging in age from 13 to 17, were provided emergency aid and financial assistance. No injuries reported and no word on a cause.
Fatal Hit And Run In Glens Falls
The Glens Falls Police Department is investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash that involved a pedestrian on Broad Street on Sunday morning. According to the Post Star, the accident closed a section of Broad Street for several hours. The accident resulted in the death of an elderly woman near the Hannaford store on Broad Street. The victim was transported to Glens Falls Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Messy, Wintry Friday In Warren County
Slippery weather is expected to continue today as the area deals with a snow and ice event. Around Lake George and other parts of Warren County, total snow accumulations are predicted to be more than a foot, with 3 to 6 around Albany and its suburbs. Scores of schools are closed or delayed and some area flights have been delayed or canceled as a result.
