State Police Warn Of Scam Targeting Elderly
A warning from the New York State Police: beware of scams targeting older people. Callers are claiming to be a family member and may have an illness or may have been arrested. WNYT reports the caller will put urgency on helping them and not to contact other family, or the caller claims to be law enforcement, saying your Social Security number or bank accounts have been “compromised”. They then ask personal information to “verify” the identity.
State Cannabis Control Board Sets Pot Packaging Rules
The state Cannabis Control Board is looking to ensure that pot pacakging wont be appealing to people under 21 when recreational marijuana hits store shelves. Recently, the panel approved draft packaging and marketing regulations that detail the kinds of packaging that would be prohibited. They also set up minimum standards for packaging and labeling and sets out penalties for violations. For instance, the packaging can’t use cartoons or bright neon colors or any references to toys or games that would appeal to the younger set.
Woman Accused Of Stealing From Employer
A Fort Ann woman who has served time in prison for defrauding customers of her upholstery business has been arrested again for allegedly stealing from her latest employer. The Post Star reports 52 year old Jennie Fusco is accused of taking $2,100 from the business, Star Canvas.
Glens Falls Using Some ARP Money On City Water System
Glens Falls Mayor Bill Collins authorized nearly $2 million in American Rescue Plan Act funding to be spent on a repair to the city’s wastewater treatment plant and upgrades to the city’s water system and now five drinking water filter tanks will be upgraded. The Post Star reports the tanks remove minerals, impurities and other particulates from the water supply.
Motorcycle Crash Near Northway Exit 18 Injures Two
Two people on a motorcycle were hurt Tuesday afternoon when their bike crashed near Northway Exit 18. WNYT reports no other vehicles were involved, and a man and woman were transported to Glens Falls Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
State police do not believe drugs and alcohol were involved. The investigation is continuing.
Americade Begins In Lake George
Americade begins in Lake George Tuesday, running until Saturday, Jun 11, 2022. Americade has become the world’s largest multi-brand motorcycle touring rally. Local estimates indicate it attracts 100,000 – 200,000 visitor days annually.

Students Charged With Making School Threats
In Queensbury, a 13-year-old student was arrested and charged with making a terroristic threat. According to WNYT,
The Warren County sheriff did not detail what the threat was. In South Glens Falls, the superintendent says two students were overheard Thursday making statements that raised concerns about student safety. Those comments were overheard and reported.
