A ten million dollar downtown revitalization grant that Glens Falls received several years ago is being put to use as residents got an early look at plans to redevelop South Street. It will be called Market Center, home to a farmers’ market and small events center. There are also redevelopment plans for two long closed bars – Hot Shots and Sandy’s Clam Bar.

Granville Man Cuffed On Burglary Counts
A man from Granville is facing burglary charges. According to WNYT, 35 year old Jeremiah Little is accused of illegally entering a building on Route 149 in Granville, and stealing from it. He has been charged with larceny and felony burglary.
Little is currently being held at the Washington County Correctional Facility on unrelated charges.
Supreme Court Issues Injunction In Lake George Herbicide Situation
A state Supreme Court justice has issued an injunction on the Lake George Park Commission’s planned use of Procellacor in the lake. WNYT reports The ruling will prevent the chemical herbicide from use in the lake. The Lake George Association said on Monday this a major victory for Lake George as the court conducts a review of the herbicide.
Man Dies After Swimming Incident IN Warren County
On Saturday, at about 4 p.m., New York State Police responded to reports of a possible drowning in the Hudson River near the area of Davern Road in Lake Luzerne. Police said that Wilfredo Arizmendi, 48, of Hartford, CT was boating with family when he entered the water to swim when he struggled to stay above water. He was pulled out with the help of another boat and was taken to Glens Falls Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Latest Washington County COVID Numbers
As of Sunday, June 12, Washington County Public Health released a COVID-19 case update reporting 46 new coronavirus cases. That number includes all positive test results reported from labs and at-home test kits.
As of Sunday, 13 Washington County residents were hospitalized for reasons stemming from COVID-19 infection. The county’s 7-day positive test rate sits at 5.3 %.
Report: Ref Attack Suspect Will Turn Himself In Monday
New York State Police say a suspect in last Sunday night’s referee attack at the Impact Athletic Center in Halfmoon will turn himself in to authorities on Monday. WNYT reports a referee was ambushed and attacked by an out of control player. The reason is unknown.
Two Dead After Motorcycle Crash In Lake George
A man and a child are dead, and another man is in critical condition after a speeding motorcycle ran off the road and hit ipedestrians Sunday in Lake George. According to WNYT, It happened around 3:40 p.m. on Route 9 near the Lake George Expedition Park. State police say a motorcycle operated by 33-year-old Anthony Futia of Albany was heading north at a high rate of speed when his motorcycle went off the shoulder and onto a bike path. The motorcycle hit a group of six people. Two of them – 38-year-old James Persons and 8-year-old Quinton Delgoteto, both of Lake George – were killed. Futia suffered life-threatening injuries. He’s in critical condition at Albany Med.
Matching Grant Challenge Presented To LGLC
The Lake George Land Conservancy (LGLC) has announced they have received a new matching challenge of $325,000 in support of its Clark Hollow Bay project, presented by the Beaty family. The Sun Community News reports the challenge will enable the LGLC to make significant strides toward completing the $5 million project, which is expected to close in June.
The Beaty Family Challenge is being gifted in memory of James (“Jim”) Beaty by his two brothers, wife, son, and a cousin.
Warren County Reports COVID Death
The first COVID death in Warren County since late April was announced Thursday. The person was in their 60’s and had lived at home before becoming ill with the virus and dying at a hospital. The resident had been vaccinated and received a booster shot, according to Warren County Health Services.
Judge To Make Lake George Herbicide Decision June 15th
Wednesday, June 15th is the date a State Supreme Court judge in Warren County is expected to make a decision on a pending lawsuit concerning the use of an aquatic herbicide on Eurasian milfoil in two bays in Lake George. On May 12, the Lake George Association, Lake George Waterkeeper, the town of Hague and a lakeside resident, Helena G. Rice, filed a lawsuit against the Lake George Park Commission, the Adirondack Park Agency and the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
