Queensbury Lawmakers Tweak STR Rules

Queensbury Town Board has unanimously passed a resolution updating short-term rental operations in the town. According to the Post Star, the regulation would help prevent “weekend warriors” who only rent for two to four days and disturb the other residents of a neighborhood. The five day minimum would also limit the movement of traffic of new guests coming in and out of neighborhoods.

Name Of Driver Involved In Deadly Crash Released By Glens Falls Police

The name of the driver involved in a fatal car accident involving a 71-year-old city resident on Broad Street in February is out and no criminal charges were filed. The Post Star reports the Glens Falls Police Department issued a news release stating that 41-year-old Jeremy Willett, of Stony Creek, struck Nina A. Dever, who was later pronounced dead as a result of her injuries.

Deadline Upcoming For Late Property Tax Bills

Warren County property owners who are delinquent on property tax bills should contact Warren County Real Property Tax Services by Friday, July 8th to discuss payment arrangements as deadlines approach for the annual tax auction.
The Warren County Board of Supervisors Environmental Concerns & Real Property Tax Services Committee will hold its annual “Last Chance” meeting on Monday, July 11th at 9:00 am, for property owners who are behind on their taxes to discuss payment arrangements.

Partnership To Conserve Local Upland Forest

The Lake George Land Conservancy (LGLC) and Wiawaka Center for Women (Wiawaka) have announced their partnership to conserve 47 acres of upland forest with a conservation easement. According to the Sun Community News the land will continue to be privately owned by Wiawaka, and the LGLC will ensure the land’s permanent protection and assist with its stewardship. Wiawaka, located in the Town of Lake George, is a nonprofit organization and the longest continually operating women’s retreat center in the country.

Queensbury Road Will Close For Bridge Replacement

Bay Road near Quaker Road in Queensbury will soon close for a bridge replacement project. According to WNYT, starting July 11, the Bay Road Bridge will undergo repairs with the work expected to last through August. Detours will be in place in the area.

Road Closure Notification

Warren County Department of Public Works is advising motorists of a planned closure of a portion of Bay Road, also known as Warren County Route 7, near Quaker Road in Queensbury for a bridge replacement project beginning at 6 a.m. Monday, July 11th. The Bay Road bridge over Halfway Brook, 150 feet north of the Quaker Road intersection, is scheduled to be replaced. This will result in detours that will use Glenwood Avenue, also known as Warren County Route 34 to travel south of the construction site and Meadowbrook and Cronin roads to travel north of the construction site on Bay Road

Man Cops Plea To Stealing From Vehicles

A Wilton man has admitted to stealing from unlocked vehicles last December. The Post Star reports 41 year old Brendan A. King pleaded guilty in Saratoga County Court on June 17 to felony fourth-degree grand larceny. King was arrested by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office on Dec. 19 after police received numerous complaints of thefts in the area of 17 Jones Road in Wilton. King was observed in the area and police found him in possession of items taken from the vehicles.

Benefit Held For Family Of Two Killed In Lake George Motorcycle Crash

A fundraiser was held at Lake George Expedition Park on Wednesday evening to benefit the family of those killed in the tragic June 12 motorcycle accident in the Lake George area. According to WNYT, two pedestrians lost their lives, James Persons and Quinton Delgadillo, both from Lake George. A third person from Lake George was also injured.

Lake George Prepares For Adirondack Wine & Food Festival

On Tuesday at Charles R. Wood Park, bottles were opened in a celebration a long time coming. The village mayor, head of the regional chamber of commerce, and others gathered to celebrate the return of the Adirondack Wine & Food Festival. According to WTEN, the event returns to Lake George this weekend – the first time the cork has been popped on it since the COVID-19 pandemic.
