Queensbury Man Charged With DWI

A Queensbury man is charged with DWI after police say he drove his 2013 BMW sedan off Lockhart Mountain Road. WTEN reports 76 year old Thomas Shelly was apparently found to be intoxicated with a blood alcohol level of 0.19, which is more than two times the legal limit. The police charged Shelly and ordered him to appear in court at a later date.

Deadline Extended For Police Exam

Last week was the deadline for to those looking to join some local police departments. As WNYT reports, Saratoga Springs police announced on social media that the new deadline to apply is Monday, August 22nd. The exam to join local police departments around the state will be held on September 17th.

Possible Drowning Incident Under Investigation In Warren County

Warren County crews were on Friends Lake Sunday, after a call came in around 2:09 PM about a man under water. WNYT reports shortly after 6PM, authorities said that their efforts switched from rescue mode to recovery.
At this time, the Sheriff’s Office is not releasing information about the victim.
The incident began with reports of a male subject in distress who had been swimming off his boat.

Warren County Youth Fair Saturday

The 150th Warren County Youth Fair is being held on Saturday, August 6 from 9AM until 1PM on the grounds of the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Warren County offices and training center, located at 377 Schroon River Road in Warrensburg.
Families are invited to this FREE event which will include fun games such as Gaga Ball, 4-Square, a dime toss, pie eating and bubble gum blowing contests, a display of 4-H project exhibits by youth and much more.

Warren County Hands Out Bottled Water In Short Order

Warren County Office of Emergency Services offered free cases of bottled water Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Warren County Municipal Center to help residents beat the heat. The handouts started at around 9a and by 12:30p all of the water was gone.
Emergency Services staff received three pallets of cases of 16-ounce bottles of water from New York State on Wednesday afternoon. The bottles have a use-by date of August 15.

Warren County Storm Reporter App

Warren County Office of Emergency Services has unveiled a new online tool to allow residents and visitors to easily report storm damage they spot in their neighborhoods or elsewhere in Warren County. The Warren County Storm Reporter app easily allows residents and visitors to let county personnel know of damage they encounter during or after severe wind, rain or winter storms. The information that is received through the application will be compiled by Office of Emergency Services staff and forwarded to first responders, public works departments and state or federal agencies as needed.

High Heat Prompts Opening Of Cooling Centers

Aviation Mall in Queensbury, Crandall Public Library and The Open Door Mission in Glens Falls, Richards Library in Warrensburg and Bolton Central School in Bolton.

Wednesday Deadline To Apply For COVID Funds

Organizations and businesses from Warren County that would like to seek financial assistance from Warren County’s share of American Rescue Plan Act funding should submit applications by Wednesday.
The Warren County Board of Supervisors and Warren County ARPA Advisory Committee are working to determine how best to allocate the $12.4 million in federal ARPA funding that has been designated for Warren County to help the community recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Twin Bridges To Become One Span

Construction work is ongoing underneath the twin bridges between Northway Exit 22 and Exit 23 that carry Interstate 87 over state Route 9 in the town of Lake George. The Sun Community News reports authorities said the $21.1 million, two-year bridge replacement project is being undertaken to enhance safety. The southbound span of the twin bridges was the site of several crashes over the past two decades, including one in the early 2000s in which a tractor-trailer skidded out of the right-hand travel lane and the truck’s cab ended up hanging over the side of the span.

Washington County Man Cuffed In Road Rage Incident

State police have arrested a Washington County man after a road rage incident in Stony Creek. WNYT reports it all started on Hadley Road when Shaun Newton crashed his van, then got out and fired a long gun in the direction of a truck that had been following him. No one was hit. Newton was arraigned and released.
