Strong Crowds For Lake George Events This Summer
Village of Lake George officials are reporting that 15 events at Lake George Festival Commons drew over 100,000 this year, and bookings for next year are strong for next year, with three new events including a Food Truck competition and Star Trek festival.
Two Arrested In Months-Old Shoplifting Case In Queensbury
Police arrested a Queensbury couple in connection with shoplifting at Walmart in February. Police said on Feb. 25 at 8:05 p.m., they responded to reports of shoplifting at the Route 9 Walmart resulting in $1,800 worth of stolen items.
27 year old Shyla S. Stafford, was arrested on Aug. 28th while 28 year old Brandon W. Flint was arrested on Aug. 22nd.
They were both processed by state police in Queensbury and taken to Warren County Jail.
Woman Returns Stolen Campaign Sign, Flag In Lake George
Update on a story we told you about Monday where a woman was caught on camera stealing a campaign sign and a flag from a yard of a home in Lake George. The property owner, Pete Spinosa, who is retired military, told WNYT that he just wanted his things back and didn’t want her arrested, and Spinosa say he came home late Sunday afternoon to see a white CRV leaving the area of his home, and his sign and flag were returned.
Man Charged In Apparent Accidental Shooting Death Of His Friend
A man is charged with manslaughter in the shooting death of a friend in Cambridge. It happened at the Cambridge Motel on South Park Street, where police say they believe Keith Libertucci was working on a shotgun – either cleaning it or loading it – when it discharged, killing another man who police aren’t identifying. WNYT reports Libertucci is charged with manslaughter, accused of recklessly causing the man’s death.
Blood Drive At Aviation Mall Friday
On Friday, the Aviation Mall is set to host a blood donation drive operated by the American Red Cross. The Northeastern New York chapter of the national organization will set up a facility across from Bath & Body Works inside the mall. WTEN reports the blood drive is set to run from 1-6 p.m. this Friday, Aug. 26. All donors to attend will be automatically entered for a chance to win gas for a year, valued at $6,000 for use at the pump. Three donors will win their own year supply of gasoline.
Whitehall Man Charged With Knife Threats
A Whitehall man is facing charges after police say he threatened multiple people with a knife. WNYT reports 23 year old Jason Suprenant is charged with menacing, criminal mischief and criminally using drug paraphernalia. He’s accused of damaging one of the buildings at Whitehall Studios on State Route 4 and threatened property managers with a knife.
Hochul Announces Completion Of Lake George Infrastructure Project
Governor Kathy Hochul has announced the completion of a multi-year project to repair and upgrade critical water infrastructure on Lake George. New York State invested nearly $15 million in the state-of-the-art improvements to the village of Lake George’s wastewater treatment plant that will significantly reduce the amount of pollution that enters the lake and create lasting environmental and economic benefits for the region.
Lake George Man Arrested In North Elba
On August 21, 2022, State Troopers arrested Joshua P. Whitty, 32 of Lake George, NY for Criminal Mischief 3rd, Criminal Mischief 4th, and Criminal Possession of Weapon 4th. On August 21, 2022, at approximately 5:49 p.m., Troopers responded to Cooper Way, in the town of North Elba for a reported domestic dispute. A preliminary investigation revealed the victim attempted to get in contact with Whitty regarding property the victim was retrieving. Whitty came out of the apartment with the property, smashed it on the ground, and threw it at the side of the vehicle causing damage.
Castelli Defeats Purporti To Take On Stefanik In November
Democrat Matt Castelli, a Glens Falls native, has declared victory in a battle to take on Rep. Elise Stefanik in the general election. According to WNYT, he was running against fellow Democrat Matt Purtorti. Both candidates in this race made it a point to not target each other, and rather both target Stefanik.
