Lake George Dissolution Public Hearings Wednesday

The future of Lake George Village will be discussed during two public hearings to discuss the dissolution of the village.
Two joint meetings between the Lake George town and village governments are set for Wednesday, 2 p.m. in the town hall and at 6 p.m. at Lake George High School auditorium. A special election is set for September 13.

Track Wraps Up 2022 Season

Monday marked the last day of the 2022 Saratoga racing season. The 40-day meet also meant a big economic boost for Saratoga Springs as COVID restrictions were lifted and people flocked to get a sense of excitement and normalcy. Opening weekend alone, NYRA reported over 100,000 people, about 10% more people than last season.

Traffic Info For Washington County

Tonight, drivers in Washington County can expect to start seeing traffic slow down. WNYT reports flaggers will be re-directing traffic on route 4 between Flat Rock Road in the town of Fort Ann and Seventh Avenue in the village of Whitehall.
Crews will be paving the roads around 7 p.m. and ending at 7 a.m. Work is expected to last through early October.

One of three public hearings, required before the vote on the dissolution of the village of Lake George, is scheduled for Tuesday at 6 p.m. inside the school’s auditorium. The Post Star reports t wo joint meetings between the Lake George town and village governments are scheduled for Tuesday, with an earlier meeting at 2 p.m. inside the Town Hall. Both meetings are available to join remotely via Zoom .

New, Online Storm Reporter

Warren County Office of Emergency Services has unveiled a new online tool to allow residents and visitors to easily report storm damage they spot in their neighborhoods or elsewhere in Warren County.
Developed in conjunction with Warren County Planning & Community Development, the Warren County Storm Reporter application easily allows residents and visitors to let county personnel know of damage they encounter during or after severe wind, rain or winter storms. The Storm Reporter application can be found at warrencountyny.gov/stormreport.

Cambridge Motel Shooting Victim ID’ed

A 46-year-old man from Albany has been identified as the victim in the fatal shooting Sunday night at a motel in Cambridge, police said Thursday. The Post Star reports James D. May was allegedly shot in the chest by Keith Libertucci, 66, who had worked as a custodian for the Cambridge Central School District. Libertucci was arraigned at Washington County Centralized Arraignment and held for lack of bail Monday morning.

The Adirondack Independence Music Festival This Weekend

The Adirondack Independence Music Festival is happening this weekend at the Charles R. Wood Festival Commons in the heart of Lake George. Music at the Festival Commons will start at 1pm on Friday and 12pm on Saturday and Sunday, with music running continuously across two side-by-side stages until 11pm each night. Gates open at 12:00pm on Friday and 11:00am on Saturday & Sunday.

South Glens Falls Man Facing Slew Of Charges

State Police arrested Kevin G. Hines, 41, of South Glens Falls, NY, for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Criminal Mischief, Reckless Endangerment and Obstructing Governmental administration , among other counts. It started with a stolen vehicle from Schenectady that was used in a robbery at a gas station in Colonie. The vehicle was later spotted in Albany where, after a brief pursuit, Hines tried to flee on foot and was arrested. An investigation determined Hines was impaired by drugs.

Storm Related Power Outages

Mid afternoon Tuesday there were some 20,000 power outages reported around Warren County, according to National Grid. That substantial number coming in the wake of a strong storm system that passed through the area. That number has been whittled down to just a few, mainly in the area south of Glens Falls.
