Governor Kathy Hochul today announced the 2023 dates for Free Freshwater Fishing Days in New York. The requirement for a freshwater fishing license is waived during the following six days this year: February 18 to 19; June 24 to 25; National Hunting and Fishing Day, September 23; and November 11. In addition to Free Fishing Days, there are “learn to fish” opportunities available through DEC-approved free fishing clinics. For a list of what’s currently scheduled, visit the DEC website. Warrensburg Eyeing Property Reassessments
Town of Warrensburg officials are considering a townwide property assessment revaluation in the near future. Sun Community News reports the initiative was suggested by town Supervisor Kevin Geraghty at Warrensburg’s monthly town board meeting Feb. 7. As the town’s last revaluation was in 2008, Geraghty said an examination of assessments townwide was “overdue.”
New Tool To Help For Ice Collapse Emergencies
There have been a number of emergencies recently with people falling through ice – and a new tool could help firefighters. WNYT reports the North Queensbury Volunteer Fire Company has a new tool called the ADK 3 in 1. It’s meant to help both ice fishermen and rescuers. Volunteers in North Queensbury say this new rescue tool can save lives in minutes with the way it chops ice and can also be used as an anchor or safety line.
Fort Edward Woman Arrested For Drunk Driving
A Fort Edward woman is accused of driving drunk in Queensbury. WNYT reports 37-year-old Holly Bader of Fort Edward was arrested after a traffic stop on Saturday. Officials say she had a blood alcohol level of .20, which is more than twice the legal limit. Authorities also say this is not Bader’s first DWI arrest.
EPA To Host Meetings On Chemical Releases From Kingsbury Facility
(EPA) will host a virtual community meeting for residents of Kingsbury and Queensbury, New York to share information about health risks from the chemical ethylene oxide, or EtO, which is being emitted from the Sterigenics commercial sterilization facility located in Kingsbury. The community meeting will take place virtually on Thursday, February 16 at 6:30 p.m. with an in-person option to view the meeting at the Kingsbury Volunteer Hose Company- 3715 Burgoyne Ave, Hudson Falls.

Look for deals and take advantage of store savings by enrolling in store reward programs. Shop strategically. Take inventory of what you have at home before going shopping. Go to the grocery store with a list, having planned out your meals until your next grocery trip.
Equity In Land Conservation, Recreation Discussion In Lake George
On March 10, the NextGen Committee of the Lake George Land Conservancy will host a panel discussion on equity and inclusivity in the Adirondack Park. Sun Community News reports the group has partnered with YMCA Camp Chingachgook to open its ground for this important talk with community. “Equity in Land Conservation and Recreation” begins at 5:30 p.m., with guests encouraged to arrive early for drinks and an opportunity to walk through the camp’s grounds.
Ski Jumping World Cup Returns To Lake Placid
For the first time in 32 years, Lake Placid will host an International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) Ski Jumping World Cup from Friday to Sunday at the Olympic Jumping Complex. Adirondack Daily Enterprise reports the competition is for men’s ski jumping on the HS 128-meter hill — the big jump. The last time this village hosted FIS Ski Jumping World Cup was in December 1990.
Warrensburg Gets State Assistance For Water Main Project
Governor Kathy Hochul today announced $40.3 million in financial assistance for water infrastructure improvement projects. Among the recipients; the Town of Warrensburg in Warren County – $496,700 short-term market-rate financing and $745,050 WIIA grant to replace the 12-inch transmission main that connects the water storage tank to the distribution system, and replace the isolation valve and valve vault.
State Roadway Funding Coming To Washington County
Governor Kathy Hochul today announced $100 million in State funding has been released to support the renewal of State roadways impacted by extreme weather. The funding supports repaving projects at 64 locations, totaling almost 520 lane miles of pavement. The money includes $1.9 million to resurface Route 40 from Route 149 to Route 22 in the Towns of Fort Ann, Granville and Hartford, Washington County.
