DEC Issues Guidance On Coyote Run Ins

DEC has issued guidance to help prevent conflicts between people and coyotes. Coyote sightings are likely to increase in the coming months Coyotes inhabit a variety of habitats throughout the state, from rural farmland and forests to populated suburban and urban areas. Do not leave food outside. Pet food and garbage attract coyotes and other wildlife and increase risks to people and pets. Feed pets indoors, eliminate availability of bird seed and teach children to appreciate coyotes from a distance.

Queensbury Traffic Study

On Monday night, Queensbury heard the results of a traffic study looking at Aviation Road and Quaker Road, also known as Route 254. WTEN reports consultants were hired to analyze congestion and traffic flow across just under four miles of road, starting from the school buildings and running as far east as where Queensbury roads bumper Glens Falls and Hudson Falls. Their study, analyzed traffic signals and crosswalk placements at three central congestion areas along the road and made recommendations for a more flexible future.

Second Round Of Heating Assistance For Eligible Homeowners

A second emergency benefit is now available through the Home Energy Assistance Program for eligible New Yorkers in danger of running out of heating fuel or having their utility service shut off. WTEN reports eligible households can normally receive one regular HEAP benefit each winter and could also be eligible for one emergency HEAP benefit in the event of an energy crisis. Three Arrested After Fort Edward Traffic Stop

State Police of Granville arrested Kane P. Fraiser, 36, of Whitehall for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. Also arrested, 29 year old Tasha M. Graham of Vermont, and 27 year old Mariah L. Simpson of Queensbury. Police say the three were in a vehicle pulled over on State Route 4 in Fort Edward recently during which authorities spotted controlled substances and multiple glass smoking devices containing drug residue in the vehicle.

Man Fighting For Life After Being Hit By Car In Queensbury

A man was hit by a car in Queensbury Sunday night and remains hospitalized. It happened around 9 p.m. as man was walking on the shoulder of Dix Avenue. The man, who’s not been identified, was taken to Albany Medical Center and has life-threatening injuries, said police.

Queensbury Man Guilty On Child Porn Counts

A Queensbury man is guilty of child pornography charges. According to WNYT, Wesley Guard, who is a registered sex offender, used the Kik messenger app to receive child pornography. Guard then sent the images to another Kik account he controlled. The material guard received included videos depicting the sexual exploitation of young children.

Parking Study In Glens Falls

A parking study in Glens Falls suggests there is no need for a new parking facility or additional spaces. The report also recommends stricter enforcement of parking and charging for parking in the core area of downtown. The Post Star reports the study by BFJ Planning and C.T. Male Associates proposes that city officials look into parking management, pricing, parking redistribution, shared parking and wayfinding.

Whitehall Woman Charged In Stolen Vehicle Case

A Whitehall woman is accused of stealing a vehicle. Police received a complaint that a vehicle had been stolen from a Salem residence and an investigation determined 58 year old Linda A. Vandenburgh had taken possession of the vehicle without the owner’s permission. The vehicle was found days later in Watervliet and Vandenburgh stands charged with grand larceny.
