The off-duty Rutland County sheriff’s deputy, and Glens Falls resident, involved in the November shootout involving police on Broadway in Saratoga Springs has pleaded not guilty to the eight-count indictment against him. According to WNYT, 25 year old Vito Caselnova is charged with attempted murder, assault, menacing, and reckless endangerment.

Two Killed, One Hospitalized In Granville Crash
Two people have died and another driver hospitalized following a two car crash in the town of Granville. WRGB reports late Saturday night, deputies responded to the area of State Route 22 in the Town of Granville for a reported crash. While the crash remain under investigation, The driver, Myles A. Pauquette, 20 and passenger Joshua E. Wood, 40, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Plans For Regional Morgue Moving Forward
Warren County officials are moving forward with their proposed initiative to establish a regional morgue, likely to be situated at the county Municipal Center in Queensbury. According to the Post Star, Warren County’s Public Works Superintendent told county supervisors March 23 that he was taking steps toward commissioning a feasibility study for a regional morgue that would provide autopsies and other related services for at least a half-dozen neighboring counties.
GFCSD Narrows Down Possible Mascot Choices
The Glens Falls City School District’s student cabinet has gathered the data and put forth a recommendation of four different mascot finalists. According to the Post Star, the top four choices are Knights, Wolves, Black Bears and Hawks. The community survey for input on Knights, Wolves, Black Bears and Hawks will be open until March 30. During the coming week the cabinet and Dengler will prepare their recommendations for the board and present them Monday, April 3.
Warren County Seeks To Fill Legal Positions
Warren County is seeking qualified attorneys to apply for the newly created position of Assigned Counsel Administrator. The Administrator plans, oversees and administers the provision of services through the Assigned Counsel Program (ACP) for Warren County.
Responsibilities include coordination and oversight of the ACP, which offers free legal representation to eligible clients in criminal cases and certain family court cases.

Man Charged In Shooting Incident Outside Queensbury Walmart Offered Plea Deal
The man accused of shooting and injuring another man in the Queensbury Walmart parking lot last fall has been offered a plea deal. The Post Star reports 34 year old Adrian Semintal of Fort Edward, was offered 14 years in prison.
The incident took place last November after police say Simental engaged in an encounter, and then followed Brendan Grant’s vehicle into the parking lot, where a confrontation ensued.
Lochner Eyes Stefanik Congressional Seat
41 year old Jill Lochner, from Greenfield in Saratoga County, said she’s long had her eye on the 21st Congressional District, has thought about running for years, and now believes she is in the right place to bring a fresh voice to Congress for the district. Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-Schuylerville, secured her fifth term in November. As a candidate, Stefanik said in 2014 that she would voluntarily limit her tenure in the House to five two-year terms.
Lake George Has Its First New Mayor In A Half Century
For the first time in more than five decades, the village of Lake George will have a new mayor. According to WNYT, Ray Perry, who was first elected to the board in 2007, was elected the village mayor Tuesday with 147 votes. Perry was running unopposed to succeed Mayor Bob Blais, who is leaving his post as the longest serving active mayor in the country.
Woman Admits Defrauding Banks Out Of $133K
A Washington County woman will spend two and a half years in prison for defrauding banks out of $133,000. WNYT reports
Renee Burnell of Hudson Falls admitted to defrauding the banks using the personal information of the customers of her plumbing and heating business – Burnell’s Plumbing and Heating, which she owned. She pleaded guilty to a two-count indictment.
