A home that went up in flames in Argyle this week had been added on to previously and investigators say the blaze looks to have started in the back southeast corner of the residence. That fire at 3004 Aarons took the life 42-year-old Graham R. Keech. The investigation into a cause is ongoing.

Blais Gets Honor In Ghana
Lake George Village Mayor Robert Blais is on his way to gaining another longer-lasting source of notoriety — one that will likely transform the lives of thousands of children in upcoming years. Sun Community News reports back on Blais’ last day as mayor on March 29th, a diplomat from Ghana arrived with his family unannounced in Blais’ office and told Blais that a school being built in Ghana will bear the name “Robert ‘Bob’ Blais Elementary School.” The diplomat had worked in Lake George for a time and called it Heaven on Earth.
Bomb Threats Received By Washington County Schools
Multiple school districts cancelled classes and several others operated on a 2 hour delay Tuesday, after bomb threats were made against schools in the overnight hours. WRGB reports the threats, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, were sent in an anonymous email sent to schools individually. Granville, Hartford, Whitehall, and Hudson School districts have messages on their websites informing parents of a threat made to the district.
Washington County Man Dies In House Fire
On April 2, 2023, State Police of Greenwich responded to a home on Aarons Way in Argyle, NY, for the reports of a structure fire. At about 4:04 a.m. Troopers responded to a structure fire at the location. The preliminary investigation discovered Graham R. Keech, 42, of Argyle, NY decease in the area of the home damaged by the fire. Washington County Fire Investigators are assisting, and the investigation into the fire is ongoing.
Schumer Talks Firefighters Grant Program In Glens Falls
Senator Chuck Schumer was at the Glens Falls Fire Department Tuesday to announce his plans to save the Assistance to
Firefighters Grant Program and Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Program. WNYT reports the programs have provided nearly $1 million to Warren and Washington County fire departments in just the past three years. He is rallying support to pass the Fire Grants and Safety Act in the Senate by the end of this month to save these programs.
Glens Falls School District Announces New Mascot
The Glens Falls School District has announced their new mascot. WNYT reports they are now going to be known as the Glens Falls Black Bears. The final four choices were between the Knights, Wolves, Black Bears, and Hawks.
The design phase begins now and the mascot will debut in June, which is the deadline set by the New York State Education Department for schools to remove mascots about Native Americans.
Program Protecting Folk Music In Glens Falls
Musician and teaching artist Dave Ruch, along with Brant Lake NY singer Colleen Cleveland, will present a series of free and open-to-the-public workshops to introduce some “heritage” music from Colleen’s family to area musicians and interested others: Saturday May 6, 3:30-5p at Folklife Center at Crandall Public Library, Glens Falls. The “New Audiences for Old Songs” project aims to expand awareness for – and enjoyment of – this rare and important collection of folk songs and traditional ballads from the Adirondack region of New York State.
Northway Bridge Closure
The Warren County Route 11 bridge in the town of Bolton over I-87 (the Northway) as well as the southbound Exit 24 on and off ramps will be closed indefinitely for a New York State Department of Transportation bridge replacement project starting Monday April 3, 2023. There will be alternating lane closures northbound and southbound as work progresses. There will be occasional shut downs of I-87 northbound and southbound from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m., and advance notice will be given before this occurs.
Warren County Sheriff’s Office Cracks Down On Distracted Driving
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office will be working to address this traffic safety issue by participating in the U-Drive, U-Text, U-Pay traffic safety initiative. The Sun Community News reports in an effort to reduce the number of property damage and personal injury motor vehicle crashes, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office will be sending out dedicated high visibility traffic patrols April 3 through April 10 focusing on the education and enforcement of distracted driving.
Car Clocked Doing 119 MPH In Queensbury, Three Arrests
Three people face a variety of charges after a vehicle was observed speeding in Queensbury, and later crashed. WRGB reports a vehicle was spotted by police driving on Luzerne Rd in the Town of Queensbury at a speed of 119 miles per hour. The operator, identified as 33-year-old Joseph E. Millington of Diamond Point failed to pull over and eventually crashed on Bonner Drive. Millington and two passengers, 53-year-old Matthew Harris of Greenwich and 22-year old Taylor Ruddy of Middle Grove, were charged with two misdemeanor counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.
