DA Expects More Charges In Washington County Fatal Shooting
Washington County District Attorney Anthony Jordan said he anticipates bringing additional charges in front of a grand jury to consider in the case of the Hebron man who is accused of shooting and killing a Schuylerville woman on April 15. The Daily Gazette reports what additional charges Kevin Monahan could face were unclear.
Granville Man Indicted In Deadly Crash
A Washington County man is facing vehicular manslaughter and DWI charges in a deadly crash. According to WNYT, 39 year old Michael Campbell II of Granville, was driving Wednesday night on Quaker Road in Queensbury, near Quaker Ridge Boulevard, when he crossed the center line and hit another car driven by Nicholas Canning, 33, of Queensbury.
Hudson Falls Woman Arrested For DWI
A 21-year-old Hudson Falls woman was arrested for DWI early Sunday morning following a traffic stop. WNYT reports
Alexandria Underwood was stopped by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office on Upper Glen Street in the Town of Queensbury after her 2014 Subaru was observed committing unspecified traffic violations.
At Sheriff’s Office Headquarters, Underwood submitted to a breath test which gave a .13 of 1% BAC.
Septic System Inspections Begin on Lake George Shoreline Properties
The Lake George Park Commission’s new program of inspecting septic systems on Lake George shoreline properties is now underway. The Sun Community News reports inspections began in late April with an inspection of a septic tank on the premises of a residence built in 1967 on Lake George’s Assembly Point. It failed the inspection and faces upgrades or replacement.
New Zoning Category In Lake George
The Village of Lake George recently added a new zoning category that specifically allows upper story condominiums in a limited section of the downtown business district. The Glens Falls Chronicle reports it’s in the restricted zone — Canada Street and one block on either side of it . The overlay condo district is further restricted. It’s bounded by Beach Road and McGillis Avenue to the south and the crosswalk at Amherst Street and Pine Point Lane to the north.
Deadly Crash In Queensbury
A deadly crash late Wednesday night on Quaker Road in Queensbury. WTEN reports 33 year old Nicholas J. Canning died of injuries sustained in the crash. Preliminary investigations determined that Michael Campbell II, 39, of Granville, was driving eastbound on Quaker Road in a 2018 Ford F-150. Campbell crossed the center lane and struck a 2005 GMC Safari operated by Canning head-on.
Monahan Denied Bail
Kevin Monahan, the man accused of killing Kaylin Gillis, was back in court on Thursday. WNYT reports Monahan’s attorney, Kurt Mausert, argued Thursday the Hebron man should have a chance to post bail because he’s not a flight risk, and there’s nothing to indicate he is. The judge denied Monahan bail.
Glens Falls Woman Charged With Welfare Fraud
A woman was arrested for allegedly collecting more than $2,000 in improper welfare benefits. The Post Star reports 28 year old Hope Hogan of Glens Fall is charged with alleged welfare fraud following a joint investigation with Warren County Social Services fraud investigators. Police say it was determined that Hogan had failed to declare income she received from SSI, which made her eligible for SNAP benefits totaling $2,632 that she wouldn’t have qualified for otherwise.
Registration Open For Job Fair
Warren County Department of Workforce Development and the NY State Department of Labor have partnered with The Salvation Army of Glens Falls to schedule a seasonal job fair on Thursday, May 18th, and registration has begun for businesses that are interested in being part of it.
Seasonal businesses in hospitality, tourism/recreation, construction, and landscaping sectors who have more than five seasonal job openings are encouraged to register and exhibit at this seasonal fair at The Salvation Army at 37 Broad Street, Glens Falls. It will run from 10 a.m.. to 1 p.m.
